Nicole Kidman wants Catholic wedding

Nicole Kidman wants to marry lover Keith Urban in a traditional Catholic ceremony. The screen beauty - who was brought up as a Catholic but dabbled in Scientology after marrying devotee Tom Cruise - is said to have re-discovered her faith.

Well, if she is serious about practicing her faith, and having a Catholic marriage, I say, good for her! Glad she escaped Scientology!!

This will be a good thing for her. I hope she has all her ducks in a row so it can happen for her and her fiancé. 🙂

Should be no problem if she chooses the right parish/diocese.

A few years back a couple of Protestant state officials were married in the cathedral of one of the south-east dioceses. The spokesman noted that the bishop routinely gives dispensations for protestants to be married in the Catholic Church. However she did agree that that case was unusual since neither party was Catholic.

Was her marriage to Tom Cruise valid or did they have a Scientology ceremony–or whatever they call them?

Ms. Kidman apparently gave an interview yesterday saying she and Mr… Urban are “just good friends who enjoy each other’s company.”

Despite my posting to this thread, I must confess to being quite ambivalent about Ms. Kidman’s marital plans.

If she is serious about her Catholic Faith and is free to Marry in The Church, why not. I heard, don’t know if true or not, she wants her children raised Catholic not in Sciencetolgy (Tom’s) If that’s the case, then by following her Faith and Marrying in the Church she would be providing a proper role model for her children.

Who cares…my neighbor is having a catholic wedding but she doesn’t get a post on here. I think we (as a western society) place too much attention on “celebrities”. Although I’m guilty of reading a gossip mag or two at work, I don’t buy them, I hate watching the tv shows. As Catholics (though I’m not one officially yet) we should place more emphasis on family and good riddance to those people who starve themselves and deny the poor for their millions of dollars for our “viewing displeasure”.

Sure, it may be good for the church to have a famous person have a catholic wedding, but without this superficial, greedy, adulterous business, the church wouldn’t need PR from a celebrity wedding.

Hopefully, she is free to marry in the Catholic church and has obtained an annulment or a declaration of nullity as required of those who wish to remarry. At the very least, I hope she is not cohabitating prior to her receiving this very powerful sacrament of marriage.

God always smiles when one of his lost sheep returns to the fold.
Who are we not to smile with him?!

From what I understand, her desire to return to her childhood faith, and raise her children as Catholics was the “biggie” that did in her marriage to Tom Cruise.

Blessings,

She may have never had a sacramental marriage to Tom Cruise, so if she decideds to be in full communion with the God and His church, then she can start fresh. It would be harder to do if she ever married in the church.
