Hello all,

I have nieces who was baptized but my brother-in-law and sister-in-law never raises them in the Church. They can bevery anti-catholic and anti-Christian for that matter, however, my oldest niece is more will to listen accept religion. My mother-in-law is looking for a book they can read. I was thinking G.K. Chesterton. Any ideas of a good book?

Thanks,
ZP

Monicad, so you are telling the OP to not even try? That doesn’t sound like sharing the faith to me.

OP, could you tell us first how old is the niece you would like to get the book for?

If I many respectfully suggest that you and the grandma invite the girl out for a latte, and have a frank discussion about prayer. Just prayer. Do you pray? I do. Lots, often, I hope you know some prayers. Do you need a prayer-book dear? I can get you a nice one if you like, etc etc etc
Something along those lines. Also the Catholic Faith Handbook for Youth is an easy, plain language reference book, (not too big) that cover all the basic questions teens ask. You can get it on Amazon.

Hello all and thanks for your responses! They are 14 and 17. We see them often and are a close family. We pray often for them.

Again, thanks for the suggestions!

If the family is anti-Catholic, I would seek permission from the girls’ parents before giving them a book they might not approve of. To provide them with a book is a nice thought, but maybe not appropriate if you think the parents wouldn’t be okay with it.

Just saw this.

Get them Trent Horn’s “Why We’re Catholic”.

Thanks all! I think I have all the info needed. Basically, continue to live out your faith and pray!

Thanks,
ZP

The same thing is happening with my brothers children. We can only hope and pray for the best.
