This could go in multiple places, but I decided to put it here. From LifeSiteNews.com:
Nigerian Prelate Calls for Suspension of Church of England from Worldwide Anglican Communion
Move would place Queen Elizabeth in anomalous position

ABUJA, August 15, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Peter Akinola, the Primate of Nigeria and one of the most influential Anglican bishops in the world, has called for the suspension of the Church of England, the mother church of Anglicanism, from the Worldwide Anglican Communion.

Thanks 🙂

Prophetic zeal against sin ? - not impossible

Something less admirable ? - God knows.

The words “plank” & “eye” spring to mind. That’s what so annoying about Christian ethics; one can’t point out the faults of others, because one is no better oneself.

And it’s a great release from wasting time mud-slinging. Christian man is so fouled-up - God showers us with grace upon grace, and we turn it to lead & use it to hammer and lambaste others instead of being merciful to them in the knowledge that we are as truly flawed as they are. I wonder God does not give up on the whole darn lot of us  😦 . Christians make me vomit - we are sick, sick, sick 😦

As to the law of contradiction: the author might like to think of how other Churches have got round seemingly plain words: for instance, the CC’s condemnations of other Churches did not give the impression that she would ever get involved in ecumenism. Less C of E-bashing by that writer seems called for - Churches are very clever at eating inconvenient words, no matter what those words may be. Which is probably no bad thing. ##

Suspension would not be unbiblical in this case, I don’t think. It’s not a matter of planks and specks, but rather of church discipline. See 1 Corinthians 5, especially verses 12 and 13. It grieves me that the Anglican church in both England and America has grown so lax on the issue of sin.

This is too bizarre. From whence does Bishop Akinola think he derives the authority to “suspend” the Church of England? Bishop Akinola’s so-called “church” came into existence because Henry VIII declared that his status of monarch of England made him the supreme head of the Church of England. It was lunacy when Henry VIII made this claim, and it is lunacy when Bishop Akinola claims that he is vested with authority over the supreme head of the mother church of Anglicanism. Why doesn’t Bishop Akinola just declare himself to be the pope of Anglicanism and be done with it?

If the authority of the CoE is bankrupt, so is the authority of Akinola. What sane person can take the claims of Anglicanism seriously?

How true. Anglicanism has sunk into a heretical, hedonistic mess. It totally lacks any credibility.

It is well and truly time that any Anglicans who still have some traditional faith, left the ruins of Anglicanism and came home to the Catholic Church. If they can bring the old Anglican love for beautiful liturgy with them, then well and good!
