**That’s what I am getting for my birthday.😃

Now, i’m not much for video games but, after running out of library books late at night when i can’t sleep, the thought of having something else to do (that doesn’t require getting out of bed) is appealing to me.

Those brain games sound interesting…

So, who has one and what should I know about it?

DS has one and I rarely get a chance on it especially when he is playing MarioKarts and Pokemon. But when I do I enjoy Sudoku on BrainAge2

So what game ya gonna get for it?

I like the walk around and shoot games. One of y’all needs to PM Debbie and tell her I want a new PS3 for Christmas.

I love it… but I’m a Nintendo kid… OLD SCHOOL style 😉

I play BrainAge Sudoku at night to unwind to go to sleep lol.

MarioKart is cool - as is any of the Mario Games.

I don’t care for the Pokemon games, but Castlevania is cool.

Go into a gamer-dude store and ask the nice young men/women behind the counter what they like… they’ll be excited to help you. (They’re always shocked to see me “a mom type” come in and talk gamer-dude with them lol).
 
DUDE Big Brain Academy is one of the most addictive (and wonderful :o ) games ever invented. I thought my family was going to do an intervention after day two of me being hyper into it! LOL

YET – I have beat everyone else and I can’t even touch my own high score lately! LOL
 
**Thanks everyone…this is the first time I’ve asked for anything like this… I usually want either home decor type items (LOVE ikea, lol) or new clothes/shoes. I hope I like it as much as you all do!

I get to open it later today so I guess I’ll find out soon enough:D**

The fruit are the new gamer market that didn’t exist until the Wii and DS showed up (ie, parents, elderly, or others who wouldn’t have otherwise tried video games)
 
DH got me one (used from Game Stop) It works awesome and was 1/2 the price of a new one. I have Big Brain Academy, Brain Age 1 & 2 and now have UNO. I love playing it before bed - it’s so relaxing. 👍
 
My niece has a DS. I played her Brain Age game and I was sooo bad. Apparently I have the brain of like a 67yo. But it was kind of neat. They have so many games out there. I am pretty anti- video game but I have to admit I wouldn’t say no to one :cool: Enjoy!
 
If you’re anti-video game, then you better darn well be anti-movie and anti-television.

I am still learning it, but I played Sudoku for the first time and I can see it being a good time-passer:)… I won’t even tell you how OLD my brain is though:o**
 
I have/had one 😦 my middle child got mad when browser killed him and chunked it across the room… and no I didn’t beat him or anything.

My older son’s still works but he hasn’t played it much since mine got broken.

What we did was play games together, like mario kart, super mario brothers etc… with the built in WiFi. It’s a lot of fun. I also took my on business trips since my work laptop isn’t really a gaming machine 🙂

They are a lot of fun, the brain teasers are fun for a while but got old IMHO after playing through them a couple of times. Mario Kart never gets old!

If you like games that challenge you to think, then you have to get Professor Leyton and the Curious Village. The premise is that you have to find a treasure that’s lost in the village. To find it you have to go all around the village and solve puzzles to get the clues. It can be fustrating but also very addictive. It was recommended to me by a store clerk and it has to be hands down the best game I’ve gotten for my DS, and I’ve got all of those Brain Age type games.

Brain Age, Brain Age 2: both excellent. Both fun.

Couple things to know about the DS:
  1. it plays not only DS carts, but also GameBoy Advance carts.
  2. it can not play older (GB Color, GB) carts.
  3. Styluses tend to get lost. Replacements are not expensive.
  4. it is hard to play in direct sunlight, since it is designed for use with the backlight on at all times.
  5. Screen protectors are generally NOT a good idea for the touch screen; when you have to remove them for replacement, you tend to damage the touch screen. Instead, restrict yourself to using only the soft plastic, round tipped styluses and a light touch on the screen.
  6. closing it does NOT turn it off. It puts it into a sleep mode that takes more power than “off”, but far less than “on”. Oh, and Off still draws a tiny trickle watching for the switch-on.
  7. some games make use of wi-fi to access the internet, if you have configured for it.
  8. the device itself has a clock with alarm. I’ve not often used it. It does work in sleep mode. It’s not loud enough, IMO, to be useful.
  9. you can play while plugged in, but it’s not a great idea…
 
For the longevity of the battery life. It’s like with any modern day electronic that has a battery… cell phone, cordless phone, iPod, handheld games, etc. The battery is designed in such a way that you need to use the battery till its nearly dead and then put it on the charger for a full charge. then remove it till its dead or almost dead and do it again.

Edit: Ok so looked it up… nickle batteries have the above effect, but lithium batteries apparently do not (nintendo has lithium batteries).
