NIV bible up for editing

The NIV is a weak (and in my opinion flawed) translation, so we should not have high expectations of any revisions based on it. With the NASB so widely available, I cannot understand how anyone could prefer the NIV. Nevertheless it has been the dominant English translation of the Bible for more than 20 years.
 
I would agree. My biggest complaint about the NIV are the places where the translators chose wording that makes the Christian (or even the Evangelical) implications of an Old Testament passage obvious if not explicit – which in turn suggests that those passages had no meaning whatever in the centuries between their composition and the Incarnation, and that Jesus’ contemporaries should have just recognized Him instantly as Messiah. This is both reductionist and insulting, in my opinion. I doubt, however, that those issues will be addressed in this newest revision.
