we all better make time to go -don’t even think about skipping it. 🙂
I’ll go during my lunch time.

I’m in school all day, and since I recently missed a lot of class with an upper respiratory infection, I can’t skip. But I will be fasting/abstaining, etc.!

Does your campus perhaps have a mass or service offered at a convenient time for students. Ours has two. One at 7am for anyone crazy enough to be up at that time and one at 7pm which from previous years has been packed. It’s funny how people that never go to church and students who normally don’t care about the Catholic faith show up for this mass/service.

My old highschool used to have a bible study group (the top level school administrators would always protest it every now and then) at 6:30am. I was barely awake at that hour back then.

Anyway, hopefully I can go to Lenten services tonight at my church.

This will be the first year in a long time that I didn’t get ashes. I’m housebound right now with a painful knee injury–couldn’t walk to church–and everybody else in my family has gone off with the cars.

I’ll be getting ashes at the 5:30 PM Mass, during which I’ll be singing with the choir. I’m working from home today, which I arranged so I’d be able to make the 5:30 time.

I won’t.

I’m Byzantine. I got anointed with oil at the Pure Monday liturgy.

(We’re already two days into Lent, and you Latins just started today…)

Are Byzantines still allowed to get ashes? I am going just because my friends are going and I should be a part of the Newman Center’s events including the Ash Wednesday mass. I don’t think I am doing anything wrong by getting ashes.

I’m not. Thought about going to the evening Mass they were holding at church tonight but (here comes the excuses:D ) too tired from long day at school and have to prepare for a presentation I have to give in another class tomorrow, didn’t feel like sitting through two hours of listening to Father trying to say the Mass in Spanish and English, and I think I may have to change my fasting rules (I fast for 24 hours on Ash Wed and Good Friday since I already abstain from meat since I keep misspelling words that I normally don’t misspell (spelling?) and having trouble concentrating. Besides, the only person outside of Mass who is going to see me with ashes is me and I know what today is. (Plus, I can’t sit through another round of “We rise again from ashes…”)
