No Blood of Christ at This Church

Is this a liturgical or other error? Our family is new to this parish, a Dominican Priory.

We love this traditional Mass. The pastor serves the Host on our tongue while we kneel before the railing.

A parishioner told me that serving the Blood of Christ became too cumbersome blaming the seniors. Not sure if that is accurate.

Is it acceptable not serve the Blood of Christ??
 
It is totally acceptable. It’s not served at my parish either.
 
Keeping in mind that you get the whole of the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinty of Jesus in the Host, yes communicating the Blood to the congregation is optional. A point of interest, at one point the Church suppressed communicating the Blood because there was a heresy that all of Jesus was not in the Host. The Church suppressed the Blood to make the point that He is.
 
The Blood does not have to be made available to the congregation. However, it must be *there. *Consecration is not valid without both the bread and wine, but the Priest may consecrate only a small amount for his own consumption.
 
I have to say that as a new Catholic…That was a hard thing for me to swallow also. I thought that it wouldn’t be a full communion without the blood of Christ. Now I know differently of course. I do prefer both body and blood but our parish doesn’t offer it.

Too bad you weren’t able to come until after Fr. Emerich left. He was the most awesome homilist I’ve ever heard.

I haven’t attended recently, however. Do they still skip the sign of peace?

The Eucharist is the consecrated bread.

The Eucharist is the consecrated wine.

So, for clarity, I say that my church does not offer The Cup, yet I do receive The Eucharist under the appearance of bread.
 
Each specices of the Eucharist is fully the Body and Blood of our Risen Lord.

Jesus is alive, and as the Body cannot live without the Blood, and the Blood has no purpose without the Body, both are fully present in each specices!

The priest would be 100% theologically correct to hold up the host and say “Blood of Christ” and for the deacon to offer you the cup and say “Body of Christ” . Both are well and truely present.

Is this an Indult Mass?

Is one allowed to serve the Precious Blood to the communicants at an Indult Mass? Or is one bound by the 1962 practice of giving only one species?
