These are facts, not opinions:

The Democrat Party is now openly and admittedly the party of Abortion, Homosexual Marriage, Transgenderism, tax benefits for Illegal Aliens, and of course, Socialism.

Those are facts. Here are more facts.

Prior to this virus, Donald Trump was voted Pro Life Person of the Year by Operation Rescue. He gave us the lowest unemployment since JFK was president, and gave us tax relief, a booming economy; He got rid of terrible NAFTA and made new trade agreements; He was the first president to Keep a Promise to Israel and move our embassy to the eternal Capitol of Israel Jerusalem. For all intents and purposes he wiped out ISIS.

No Catholic can ever ever ever vote for the evils Democrats stand for: Abortion, Homosexual Marriage, Transgenderism, tax benefits for Illegal Aliens, and of course, Socialism.

Trump has PROVEN himself with great deeds of success. . . .

. . . . I specifically said Prior to this virus

I cannot post links, but to Catholics (and I am one by the way) do a Google search for the video “Five Non Negotiables” by Catholic Answers, narrated by Tim Staples. Its about voting as a Catholic. It is very good.

I reached my max number of posts so I am answering the post below this one and I will return tomorrow:

The rest of your post is negated because you opened wit a blatantly false statement, saying that the GOP is anti-immigrant.

Republicans are NOT anti-immigrant.
Republicans are anti-Illegal Alien

Or to put it another way, we are against people breaking the law. Democrats award foreigners breaking our laws.

It is a federal crime to sneak into the country illegally and it is a federal crime to BE in the country illegally.

Giving tax payer benefits to criminals is rewarding lawless behavior.

Those are not opinions, those are FACTS.

I deal in facts only.

Is the Catholic church even anti-immigrant in the way that the Republicans are? In Italy the church has been a strong opponent of anti-immigrant sentiments, Pope Francis has said numerous things in defence of immigrants, and I even recall an article about a Catholic bishop who I believe circumvented the law in Italy in some way to restore electrical power to a building that migrants were staying in (but my memory of this is shoddy and I can’t find the article).

I’m not a Catholic, but I’m not sure the Catholic Church is officially anti-immigrant. You seem to mostly just be reading out a summary of Republican policies without actually tying them to any teachings of the Catholic Church that I have seen. I’m also not sure that the current Pope would oppose “socialism” in the way that you do (as just a strong welfare state).

  1. This top has been covered to death. There is zero need for another thread on it – use the search function to find what you’re looking for.
  2. The so-called “5 non-negotiables” also have been discussed many, many times – again, the search function can help you.
  3. This doesn’t even remotely belong in the World News forum.

I agree. Gracepoole, you have proven yourself with great deeds of success.

If you want to know Orthodox Catholic social policy and what the Pope believes, read Catholic social policy which spells out the principles a Catholic is expected to accept. You will see a great deal contradicted fundementally by the GOP planks and Trumpism. They also have their own immigration teaching. Trumpism conflicts in many fundemental ways in terms of the stranger.

Republicans are NOT anti-immigrant. Republicans are anti-Illegal Alien**
These sentiments still don’t really seem consistent with what I’ve seen from the Pope and the Catholic Church broadly. Pope Francis seems very sympathetic to all immigrants, even those who travel illegally - I’ve never seen him make a distinction. It would be weird to because an anti-immigrant government would just try its hardest to make sure that all immigrants are illegal. It doesn’t really seem like a useful distinction.

Let’s say that the US government made all immigration legal, with no restrictions at all. This means there would be no illegal immigrants, and this you would have nothing to worry about, right? By your own logic you should then be okay with all immigrants coming into the country, as none would be illegal.

Go ahead Change my mind.
I don’t expect to change your mind. But I do hope to remind others that nothing you have said about voting for candidates is officially approved by the Catholic Church. In particular, the notion of 5 non-negotiables was started and spread by a pseudo-Catholic political interest organization that has no official approval by the Church. So while you do state a couple of facts that are true, those facts do not imply the title of this thread, which is most assuredly an opinion, not a fact.

If you think that the Democratic Party is socialist, I would suggest that you don’t know what socialism is. Outside of the United States, the Democratic Party is actually considered somewhat right wing. Seriously, look at the policies of the Conservative Party in the UK, for example. They support the National Health Service, abortion, same-sex marriage, and legal protection for transgender people. They also oppose the death penalty and seek its abolition worldwide. However, they are pretty keen on deporting immigrants, including ones who were actually in the UK legally.

I just want to point out, that where I live, a lot of times the Democrats at a local level tend to be more conservative than the Republicans, this is why in some states, like the state of West Virginia, the state is overwhelmingly pro-life, but the state is also overwhelmingly democrats. It’s a moot point anyway, because I’m not registered with a political party, because in my state I don’t have to be. If the choice is between a pro-life Democrat and a pro-abortion Republican, I’m going to vote for the pro-life Democrat. I am more likely to vote for a Republican, but like I said things are a little different when you get closer to home.

but nobody cares about the more grievous evils of the Democrat party, like abortion.

If you guys think that Catholicism excuses lawlessness, lawbreaking, and illegally sneaking into other countries than you don’t know much about Catholicism.
  1. Nobody said that.
  2. Insulting people for something they didn’t say and don’t think would be extremely dishonest. I do hope you didn’t mean that the way it comes across.

and of course, Socialism .
Ahahahahahaha.
I’ve been laughing out loud at my monitor for a bit after reading this. Thank you. You might want to look up what socialism actually entails.
Also bite me, I’ll vote Democrat if I want.

Same. There is only one scenario I can envision myself casting an affirmative vote regarding Donald J. Trump. That would be if I were called to jury duty at a trial, and even then that would depend on the merits of the case. For public office of any level? Absolutely not.
