What would you do?
  1. I would find out what diocese my new house is in.
  2. I would call the diocesan offices and find out what parish(es) other Catholics in my zip code attend.
  3. I would try to meet the other Catholics who live in my area, as a means of spiritual support and cameraderie.
  4. Once I get to know these Catholics, I would ask them if they would be willing to car pool at least once in a while if not every week.

It’s not a matter of opinion, so your ‘disagreement’ is irrelevant. Watching Holy Mass on TV doesn’t fulfill your obligation, period.

If someone is incapable of physically attending Holy Mass, then they don’t have an obligation at all. They don’t have to try to do what is physically impossible and they don’t have to watch a televised Mass if they don’t want to.

They may choose to watch a televised Mass, but they don’t have to, and a televised Mass never, ever fulfills the obligation for someone who is fully capable of physically going to Mass.
incorrect information.

I imagine if there isn’t a Catholic church around, then there wouldn’t be an Orthodox church? If I remember correctly, attending an Orthodox church is permitted (although it shouldn’t be all the time or on a regular basis). The Orthodox Church has valid sacraments, so there’s no worry about not partaking in the Mass.

Perhaps, if one is around, you can attend it on some Sundays, and go to a Catholic church on Holy Days of Obligations and the rest of the Sundays of the year? Just some advice.

Of course, if there isn’t an Orthodox church around…then my post has no weight.

What is incorrect?

Watching a Mass on TV is a good thing to do. But it has no effect on the obligation to attend Mass. The obligation either exists or it doesn’t. But the obligation is completely independent of whether or not one watches Mass on TV. (We are obviously not talking about the case where the church building is over crowded and a television screen is set up to assist people who are actually attending the Mass but can’t see.)

Watching Mass on TV is an especially good thing to do if it is a Sunday or Holy Day of Obligation and one’s obligation to attend Mass does not exist. (The reason for the lack of an obligation to attend Mass could be due to it having been dispensed, for weather reasons, for illness, for the care of the sick or children, for necessary work, or for any number of other reasons that are enumerated by the Church herself.)
