That’s not how it’s seen in that part of the world. With all due respect, I don’t think you really get the crux of the problem out there.
It’s the Land That Time Forgot. I love the beauty of NC, and I miss my friends there.

The distrust of outsiders and Others…not so much.

Is the true man. We are screwed since Zapatero became president. 2004 legalized gay marriage, adoptoon and free abortion even for 16 years old girls.

We are ahead of atheism and liberal movement

Dude, I get your intention, and I agree, but you can’t go around dropping anti gay slurs like ‘f*ggot’ on a public forum.

Her situation was pretty clear from the . beginning. The Church does not expect you to do the unreasonable. Pray with your child. Use online resources for Religious Ed. Watch mass on tv if you can. I don’t know about that last one. We have mass from the next diocese over on broadcast tv. We have never had cable or satellite tv. Never could justify the expense.

YouTube is free, and I think there’s a church (in Phoenix archdiocese I think) that posts all the daily readings and homilies.

Unfortunately my car threw a rod. I’m not sure it can even be fixed. It’s a 1999 Toyota Camry

I was picturing faces in my tiny town when they find out I’m converting. 😂😂😂😂

It can be.

If you find an engine on ebay for a good price, you’ll only need to pay for engine shipping and installation. I don’t know your exact financial situation, but it’ll certainly be cheaper than a new car

Ocracoke is an island accessible only by ferry. It is two hours from the OP.

Oriental is down near Wilmington. It is also two hours away. I actually think it’s closer to three, given the lack of main highways in and out of Hyde County.

The nearest Church is in what we call little Washington, and it’s an hour away, via US 264. Several of us are from that area and are familiar with the geography.

It’s fixable but everything has a cost. Your best bet might be a used engine out of a wreck, if the rest or the car is sound. Toyotas are generally pretty solid.

Did you buy the car used? A thrown rod could be from lack of lubrication. That can be due to a low oil level, or neglecting oil changes which plugs the oil galleries with sludge. Toyota’s V6 engines were particularly prone to that. Or it could just be a worn out engine. Either way a used engine out of a wreck might be the best bet. A rebuilt engine too, but likely more $. A new engine would be way too expensive, and may not even be available on a car that old.

A good mechanic should be able to evaluate it and give you a ballpark figure. Just don’t tell him you’re Catholic!

Here’s a story in US News, there are only 3,000 KKK members and associates in the entire country.

Its a pretty minuscule group, divided among 40 some different factions in a really big country.

I just have a hard time thinking they are much of a threat. I don’t know where David Duke hides out most of the year, I think if the media wasn’t paying him good money to be a “contributor” and spokesman, he’d move into a retirement community and play bingo and bocce ball with the other seniors.

Completely uncalled for and more than a bit stereotypical.

You have absolutely no reason to be so disrespectful.

I felt compelled to say that wisecracks of that nature put you pretty close to the level of those anti-Catholics. The difference is they suffer from intergenerational ignorance and hate - and I consider you to be better educated than they.
