No Creed today?

We attended Mass this morning, and although the Immaculate Conception is a major feast, the Creed wasn’t recited. Was this because it was still a week day Mass? Also, St. Luke’s account of the Annunciation was read, but the priest didn’t make clear that this feast is about Mary who was conceived without original sin, not about the conception of Jesus. I know many people think that this is what it’s about. I think he should have mentioned this at least in the Homily. What are your thoughts?
 
We had the Creed at the morning Mass, and the homily did focus on Mary.
 
My parish did use the creed. It was also mentioned in the homily that May was conceived without original sin.
 
We did the Creed at our parish - it’s supposed to be said on major feasts. Our pastor also did speak in the homily about what the Immaculate Conception is.
 
Since the Immaculate Conception is a solemnity, Mass on this day should include the Credo.

We said The Apostle’s Creed rather than the Nicene Creed today. The priest mentioned the very Papal Constitution at the start of the Mass that confirmed Our Lady’s immaculate conception which was Ineffabilis Deus - Pius IX 1854.
I think it’s important for the priest to inform so I’m with you on that!
 
Yesterday evening we recited the Apostle’s Creed, this morning at my regular parish we recited the Nicene Creed. We also recited the Gloria this morning.
 
The Creed is to be said on Solemnities. As for our institutional Mass in our school yesterday, Father Director did not recite the creed. But the Gloria was sung, with the ringing of the bells.
 
They should have done the Gloria and the creed. Unfortunately, our priest skipped both.

We said the Creed and the Gloria. It is up to the priest what to include, or not, in his homily.
 
Everything ok at our Mass, but the choir skipped over the Kyrie.

We did have the Gloria. The priest had a long Homily so wonder if that’s why he skipped the Creed.
 
No singing this morning, thank God - I had to get to work.

We had incense.

We recited the Gloria and the Nicene Creed.

And Father gave a 15+ minute homily.

I had to leave immediately after the consecration – during the memorial acclamation :sad_yes:

Sadly, I wasn’t the only one who left early. There’s only so much some of us can do to rearrange work and school schedules. Still, I was grateful even to get to most of mass.
 
Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, both the Creed & Gloria are to be included in the Mass.
 
I understand. There were a few people who left early too. It’s hard when you’re working. I used to go to the noon Mass at our Cathedral when working and sometimes left early too. However, we are retired now so try to go to the morning Mass rather than the evening. But usually the evening Mass is longer. They did have Benediction but most people left before then. The Gloria was sung but again the Creed was not. The homily was good but long and rambling.
 
My priest actually explained the Immaculate Conception very well. I like when the clergy try to educate the faithful. Many do believe the Immaculate Conception is about Jesus!

My mom works downtown, and she said the 12 Noon Mass was overflowing. It’s nice to see so many people possibly sacrificing their lunch hour to go to Mass!

One of the possible reasons for that is that parishes typically follow a much reduced schedule for Holy Days, except Christmas. Many don’t even have the anticipated Mass on the day before. It is understandable for working days but why they do so for Jan 1, for example, still baffles me.

AFAIK this isn’t a reason to skip the Credo (which only takes about 1m20s anyway so cutting it out doesn’t save much time). If time is an issue, it would be preferable to shorten the homily.
