AFAIK this isn’t a reason to skip the Credo (which only takes about 1m20s anyway so cutting it out doesn’t save much time). If time is an issue, it would be preferable to shorten the homily.

Your knowledge is correct. The Credo should not have been skipped. If this was in the US, he could have chosen to use the Apostles’ Creed if time was so much of an issue.

One of the possible reasons for that is that parishes typically follow a much reduced schedule for Holy Days, except Christmas. Many don’t even have the anticipated Mass on the day before. It is understandable for working days but why they do so for Jan 1, for example, still baffles me.

The priest may know how many people DON’T show up.

Why have an anticipated Mass if you are the only one there?

(It isn’t a problem at our parish. The Mass is pretty full.)

If no one comes, a smart priest cancels that Mass and schedules a different one.

Around here, they just add a Mass (like 7pm or so) to the daily Mass schedule. I usually find a Latin Mass elsewhere though.

That’s usually the case at my parish. A Holy Day (except for non-working days like Christmas, New Year’s, etc.) usually has the regular daily Mass at 8 a.m. and an additional Mass at 7 p.m. for students/workers.
