And, the ONLY way you know anything about Christ is because a religion told you about him.

Absolutely. I came to know who Jesus was through a Calvinist school, and came to love him in the Catholic Church.

(Unless you want to claim that you are a mystic, or receiving private revelation. And if so, I won’t go there with you. )

I have read you say before that you are silent on certain parts of the creed–good for you for being a man of integrity and not professing that which you do not believe!–but if the Church told you and you believe that is true, how is it that you believe that the Church got it wrong on ?

What is the canon you use for discerning whether a doctrine is true or false? Reason alone?

And do you believe that God would reveal something that’s true but that you find unpalatable, or unacceptable? Or unreasonable?

Or is that which God has revealed be acceptable only if it is the servant of human reason?

I grew up in a family that worshiped much as described. We began in a local community church; on moving began to attend a Presbyterian church; with another move, Methodist, then another local church. For myself, I knew God existed and learned very little else regarding Jesus and His church. Before marriage to my Catholic now husband, I entered the Catholic church and began the long, long journey to understand what the faith is all about. 45 years later, I am most grateful for the structure and rules the church has provided so I could grow closer to our Lord. I look at the non denominational church approach as a reasonable starting point and little else.

No, I do not think so. I’m assuming this is true, but I’m also assuming that the person in question does not know this with certainty. Maybe he witnessed the miracle himself. How would he know it is really a miracle?

Is Jesus God/man?

Is Jesus a teacher?

Is Jesus a Prophet?

Is Jesus a King?

Is Jesus a Priest?

If you came to know and love Jesus, then describe for me what you know and love and the attributes of what you know and love.

I am a committed Protestant Christian.
I believe strongly that many reject Christianity or leave the Christian faith because of divisions in the church and claims by denominations to have a monopoly on knowledge, wisdom and truth.
Therefore, as Christian, provided we can accept the Nicean creed, we should respect members of other denominations.
Micah 6:8 And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
In particular the level of enmity between Catholics and Protestants does great damage and in my opinion is “un-Christian”
None of us know the “Mind of God” and so we must focus on a “Personal relationship” with the Lord.
Certainly we must be guided by the knowledge and wisdom of others but at the end of the day it is what is in our hearts that counts rather than the dogmas and doctrines of any particular denomination.
When Peter asked Jesus about John in John 21:22 Jesus said to him, “ what is that to you? You must follow me.”
We are not called upon to spend our time criticising other people’s faith. We are called upon to follow Jesus.
May the Lord guide each one of us as we seek his will.
