Like supporting Trump? I feel like a lot of American libertarians basically just abandoned their former political views when Trump took office.

What specifically are you talking about though?

The Libertarian Party was practically salivating over the 2016 election. It was gonna be their chance to present a credible alternative to the most unpopular candidates ever. They proceeded to blow it with Gary Johnson and a fat guy stripping on stage during their convention to prove some point about freedom.

Favoring completely free speech simply ensures that other people who do not believe in free speech get a chance to argue against it and subvert it. Favoring open borders leads to the mass importation of people who have no interest in a libertarian state, and judging by the cultures they flee from, no ability to run one. A “free market” inevitably leads to Amazon and Walmart and their attempts to influence government policy in their favor.

Right-libertarianism is basically identity politics for guys who tend to be book smart and lacking in common sense. Otherwise it is for Republicans who want to curry favor with the American left by trying to be progressive on social issues.

Finally the idea that truth will automatically win in a contest is false. Power is a means to implement your principles, not the result of them.
