Well, Iraq presents us with a rather interesting arguement. Saddam allowed for the free practice of religion, enforced by terror. Religious unrest wasn’t tolerated, so people who perpetuated crimes against other faiths vanished quietly in the night and were never heard from again. And when the area was persian, it was fairly christian-free. There was a monestery north of Mosul, saint Elijah’s where several hundred were martyred for their faith. So what is better? Should they stay and be martyred? Is it better if terror is used to ensure religious “freedom”? Or should they, as they are doing, simply leave and resettle?Sadam couldn’t kill off the Christians nor could over 1000 years of Islam, but good ole George Bush did a bang up job!![]()
