I truly believe that I the Catholic Church is the one true church, founded by Jesus. However, I have no faith in his resurrection and the Holy Tinity but I want to.

This is a problem I have struggled with for some time and bothers me. I have no faith in God.

I have tried to reach out to God several times but always in vein. I always fail on my promise’s to God because of my lack of faith. I promise to obey God’s laws but I have no faith to hold my promise’s up. So I fail.

I am lost and alone in the world even though I know I God is with me. I don’t know how to put it better.

Pray as St Thomas did “Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief.”

It takes time to build a relationship and wanting to is the first hurdle. Persisting can build a relationship with God but I’d advise you to pray as though your prayer is heard, because it is have no doubts.

Our Lord tells us to ask and it shall be given, ask for an increase in your faith however small it may be now and it will grow if you have been sincere in your request. How long this takes depends on you.

It would help if you read the Gospels and while you read remember that Jesus is actually talking the Truth and speaking it to you personally.

I’ll pray for you and I hope that you will pray for belief, once you have this it will change your life, especially if it leads you to join the Catholic Church.
God bless.

I have no faith in God.
In what way do you have no faith?

You say that you know God is with you, so I’m guessing that you believe in his existence and presence. What else do you believe about God? Do you believe that he created everything that exists? That he loves you? That he can do anything? That he knows everything?

The Incarnation and the Resurrection may be hard to believe for various reasons, but one approach to belief is to consider that God loves you and God is all-powerful. If you believe those two things about God, you might be able to make the leap that God has the will and the ability to give you eternal life.

Now, in order to give you eternal life, why did God have to become man, then suffer, die, and rise from the dead? These are mysteries. The Bible offers some explanation, and saints and theologians have written much about it. You should try to learn more about it. Your faith, weak though it is, is a good start.

Even if you have doubts, go ahead and practice your faith. Pray, go to church (if you are Catholic, go to Mass and go to Confession), serve other people, and seek out programs at your church for building faith (like Bible study, prayer groups, religious education).

This I pray: May God strengthen your faith, awaken your hope, ignite your love, and lead you forward on your spiritual journey toward eternal life in his glorious presence.

It sounds like you believe some things, but not others.

I wouldn’t call that “no faith”, I would call that “work in progress”.

If you like to read, I recommend “Handbook of Christian Apologetics” by Peter Kreeft. It covers a lot of topics and explains a lot of things.

Peace

Maybe you have more faith than you think. After all, you are posting on CAF. I know hard-core atheists who would never ever read much less post on CAF.
Take one step at a time. I know of someone who every day before bed would tell himself ‘There is an afterlife and I better be prepared for it. The physical world is not everything.’ After about a year, he started to show the rudiments of faith.

Mark 9:22

“But Jesus said to him, 'If you are able to believe: all things are possible to one who believes.”

May God bless you!

Rhys,

Here’s a simple prayer that helps me when I’m stuck…

I can’t! He can! He does! I do!!!

Thank you.

It is not that don’t know the Bible is true. It’s that I can’t seem to accept it.

I appreciated your advice. I will try to do more to strengthen my faith as you suggested.

Thank you.

I will try to pray more and in the way you suggested. I also will try to read the Gospels more and remember it is Jesus speaking directly.

Mark 9: 22-26
22 “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”

23 “ ‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”

26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.

Luke 11: 9
9 “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

There is your answer. I will pray a rosary for you.

Also, don’t put too much stress on your feelings.
Focus on following God’s will.
And don’t worry 🙂
