Thank You Arnold!!!

I emailed him on this one, and had everyone I know either call or email, they were more than anxious to do so.

I wasn’t sure how he was going to go with it. Arnold has sold us out so many times already. I

Me too, every field office and a couple of times a week in Sac–just to check on the progress

Don’t assume he wouldn’t sell you out on this issue next time. He has been taking the stance that the situation in California is so dire that he does not want the legislature wasting time on low priority initiatives. He has vetoed other meaningless measures like this one. If times were better, he might be right there with them. I can almost guarantee it.

Wasn’t Harvey Milk a homosexual activist/politician who was killed? I think I recall watching a documentary on this many years ago but I’m not sure.

A good thing the California Governor has vetoed this but he’s not exactly a stalwart defender of the idea that homosecual acts are immoral. I don’t know if he is Catholic but his wife, a Kennedy, is.

The aftermath of Harvey Milk has claimed itrs own infamy in the area of criminal law. As I recall his killer was a nutty guy who was somewhat obessed. I’m not sure if he was acquitted or not but his defense was the called the “twinkie defense.” Evidence was introduced that he ate an huge amount of junk food, including twinkies, which purportedly so distorted his thinking, that he was arguably not responsbible for his actions – a beginning point to the “excuse abuse” we have so often seen in recent years in criminal cases and scandals exposing some kind of wrongdoing.

Having just read the wikipedia article on the killer of Harvey Milk, Dan White, I find it rather shocking that this man would actually kill his former colleagues.

Dan White was a hard-working Irish-American Catholic who served in Viet Nam and then became both a Policeman and a Fireman. Nothing in his background would have prompted me to think that he would have become a murderer.

Also, his excuse was depression and he did not blame the murders on junk food. It was noted that his depression was evident due to the fact that he consumed vast amounts of junk food, despite being usually a health food fanatic. Unfortunately, the media misinterpreted this as the actual excuse for diminished responsibility.

If my memory serves correct, I believe many people in San Francisco hailed White’s actions; they saw him as ridding the City of two corrupt and immoral leaders. I don’t condone any of his actions, but that is what I have heard.

Dan White was nuts…I lived in SF around the time of the killings and don’t recall anyone, including friends or relatives hailing him as a hero. They hailed him as a petulant nutball. He later committed suicide.

Harvey Milk was a homosexual activist politician. He was killed as a matter of convenience. It could have been anybody that got in White’s way after he killed the mayor. He is also a martyr of convenience. He wasn’t killed because he was gay he was killed because he was walking down the hall after White offed Moscone. The mayor wouldn’t reinstate White after he resigned then requested his job back.
