No laughing matter

There is much wit in what Jesus said .

" Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit."

“Blind guides! You strain your water so you won’t accidentally swallow a gnat, but you swallow a camel!”

" What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?"

"Would anyone light a lamp and then put it under a basket or under a bed? Of course not! "

I guess that guy forgot the verse about how many things Jesus said & did that weren’t written down.

I expect Jesus laughed quite a bit. And still does.

Actually, the author of the blog you linked to says that he believes Jesus did laugh. The people in the comments section afterward mostly agreed. Why would anyone think that Jesus never found anything funny enough to laugh about? What an odd premise.

Our Lord was “a man like us in all things but sin.” I’m sure Jesus laughed, but not in a scornful, hurtful way, at the expense of others. It just makes sense to me. I’ve never known a charismatic person, a person who attracted others, without a sense of humor.

Yes Jesus did smile and laugh with children
Luke 18:15-17 People were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them; and when the disciples saw it, they sternly ordered them not to do it. 16 But Jesus called for them and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. 17 Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.”

Further to this, is it possible for Jesus to laugh, but not the Father or the Holy Spirit?

Jesus was fully human. He laughed, he cried, he got angry, he ate, he pooped.
Why would anyone say different?

Yup. He did everything and anything we do, except sin. He was fully human.

He probably did laugh, but never laughed excessively; He was perfectly virtuous in all of His acts.

You seem to be allowing that he misspoke. This would have serious consequences on the words attributed to him.

Why not !

Psalms 2:4 He who sits in the heavens laughs;
** the Lord has them in derision.**
5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
6 “I have set my king on Zion, my holy hill.”

My link was to one of the comments, one that argued why Jesus would not have laughed. The link wasn’t to the original article. Perhaps this kind of link does not work in your browser.

We make God laugh every time we tell him our plans for ourselves…

So if God the Father can laugh, I’m pretty sure God the Son can laugh, too. 😛

Did Jesus ever laugh?

Here’s one guy who says no. I think he’s right.
Hmmm…perhaps…but have you ever know of one human who never, ever, laughed?

Laughing is a manifestation of human emotion (or sometimes, and more rarely, just a physiological action).

And, Jesus had two natures (human and divine).

Categorically claiming Jesus NEVER laughed could be construed as denying his humanity.

All, we have to judge whether he smiled or not is the words in the Gospel…but because there is no mention of him smiling cannot lead to the assumption that he did not.

I would like to concluded that when he healed, or when others glorified God through him, or when the little ones were brought to him, he did smiled!
