FWIW, “traditional” means something else in other parts of the Catholic World. It doesn’t refer to the use of Latin or even the EF but to the use of archaic vernacular languages and using songs from the nineteenth century.

More important, what’s required for any form of the Mass are not readily available. These include copies of Missals, electricity to light Churches or chapels, security, and so on, not to mention significant lack of priests.

The author is referencing Catholic traditionalism as we’ve come to know it most commonly in the US Catholicosphere. That is the preference for the TLM and pre Vatican II beliefs, practices, devotions, customs etc.

Having been part of that world, while still accepting Vatican II and Pope Francis, he can no longer accept the inevitable slide into rejection of VII and Pope Francis that’s manifesting now. He mentions the likes of Taylor Marshall who has almost gone over the edge now, the latest being a focus on aliens as demons.

That’s his call and his free agency.

If he doesn’t like the traditionalist Catholic environment, then just leave and don’t come back.
