The purpose of marriage to have children and raise a family; no need for that in heaven.
This statement is very simple and so simplistic. That is a very old fashion point of view the ends of marriage. The official doctrine of catholic church is not totally like that.

I know that the theological and philosophical debates about the marriage and the marital act are very strong, very powerful, very passionated, very full of disputation inside and outside the Roman catholic church (see the differences between the canon code of 1917 and the canon code of 1983 on the marriage, before and after Vatican the Second about the personalism and the phenomenology of marriage and of the marital act).

Are you on a line near the FSSPX, or near some sedevacantists??? Are you very old fashion about those two topics?

Your sentence is a very tight thought, in my opinion. I am not okay with you.

In Domino

Oh come on now 😃 He’ll sure ask the Lord to switch places with you, and knowing Him, He’ll instead make some room and have you move forward, next to him! 🙂
Except I am a guy and my spouse is a lady!😊

My great-aunt told us something funny once when she asked this to her pastor (mind you, she was Lutheran, but the view was pretty similar to the Catholic view if I remember correctly - it’s been probably 20-25 years since I heard it). Anyway, my great-aunt was a widow twice (first husband died back in the 1950s I think, and the 2nd in the 1980s). My aunt asked her pastor something similar along the lines of, “Which husband will I be married to?”, and the pastor said something like marriage isn’t nessecary in Heaven or something. My great-aunt replied something like, “Well, that’s a relief! At least I know I won’t have to fight over the two of them!”. :rotfl: (If she’s in Heaven now, I wonder what she’s doing with the both of them if they made it, too. :D)

Yep. I don’t think you yet see what the Sacrament of Matrimony truly is: a representation of something much, much greater. In heaven there is but one Matrimony: that between us, the Bride, and Him, the divine Bridegroom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit. It is a great mystery, as St. Paul writes.

That does not mean that our marriage(s) on earth loose value in heaven, just like the vows of chastity or celibacy. It means that we are, so to speak, at a different level. But, as for the spouses, we know from the infallible word of God that “the two become one flesh”, thus my understanding is that there could be no separation between the spouses in heaven.
Reminds me of the book “Three to Get Married” by Fulton Sheen.
