I have doing the first Friday devotion. This Friday will be the eighth month. Tonight at Mass the priest announced that this coming week will be the priest retreat for the diocese and there will be no daily masses throughout the diocese all week. This coming Friday is the first Friday of the month.
My question is since I don’t have access to the Eucharist on the first Friday do I have to start over, or can I just skip this month and resume next month.

I think all dioceses do that at some point in the year with a retreat.( It makes sense).
My diocese however is more like three days. My diocese tends to do it in November I think.
Also I am surprised they are doing that the week before Pentecost.
What happens if someone has an emergency and needs anointing of the sick or extreme unction when they are gone?
I live in a town with a Catholic diocese run convalescent home that has a chapel and have weekday masses and the past couple years I’ve went there for mass during those weeks because they get retired priests to come say them.
Maybe they ask retired priests to be available during those days?

Is Mass required? I thought it was just receiving the Eucharist - or am I confusing my devotions again? Perhaps Father can make arrangements for people in your situation (?)

It’s just the Eucharist that must be received on the First Friday.

Can you ask Father if there could be a communion service on the First Friday for those who wish to attend/ observe the First Friday devotion? Such services do not require a priest, and some of my parishes have had them when the priest was out sick and they couldn’t get a substitute.

Also, see if there’s a monastery or convent having Mass on the First Friday. Their priests aren’t under the Diocese.
