No more funerals in church?

There was a funeral at our little southern Church & the family had the viewing in the Church the night before the service & burial at the cemetery, instead of at the funeral home. Which was very nice but had to be approved by the pastor of the Church & of course no other services planned. I don’t know if alot of non-catholics came for the viewing or not , since I have heard a few are afraid to enter a C.Church!

So you are saying this is what happened at a Catholic church?

The Catholic church has Funeral Masses. It’s not unusual for the Funeral to be in the church. I believe that’s where it’s always been.

However, for Protestants, I believe the funeral service is moving from the church. I’m just curious as to why.
