I visited the local Catholic church in Ohrid, Macedonia, few days ago. There was a sign outside saying the daily mass at 6.30pm in English, German, and other few languages. I attended the evening mass and there were only two more people with few children. The priest held the mass in Croatian way just like in the church at Skopje. However, the others did not kneel down during the mass not a single time and they did not shake hands. I thought it was their style. But the priest didn’t give the sacred bread to the people and the mass was ended after the priest ate the bread and drunk the wine.
Could you tell me if this is a normal Macedonian mass? When I attended the evening and Sunday masses at Skopje, the visitors received the bread from the priest. What circumstances the priest won’t give the bread? Is this normal in Eastern Catholicism?

The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom is the normal liturgy for the Byzantine tradition, which is mainly standing, and without kneeling.**

Eastern Canon Law (CCEO):**

Canon 713
  1. The Divine Eucharist is to be distributed in the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, unless a just cause suggests otherwise.
