Thanking you all for your responses
Reading the posts by Joshua_b, Subrosa, dave, et al., it seems that Roman Catholics do not interpret the phrase, āOutside the Church there is no salvationā, as meaning that salvation can only be received if one is an active / faithful member of the Roman Catholic Church. And this is something that Iām going to have to try and convince Evangelical fundamentalists whom Iām in regular contact with. And perhaps this same issue may be facing you all when you dialogue with Catholic fundamentalists. I firmly believe in Christian unity even if we disagree over doctrinal matters because, as Pope John Paul wrote after quoting scripture (e.g. Acts 4:12), āIt is therefore a revealed truth that there is salvation only and exclusively in Christā (Crossing the Threshold, p. 136). I believe therefore, that any church which claims that it is impossible to be saved unless you belong to them, is, well, deceived.
