No Sign of Reverence

I think times have changed. When I was a teenager and young man we genuflected on leaving the pew on the way to communion.

Now many (all)? genuflect immediatly before recieving.

Does it matter when? As long as a reverence is given?

In the interviening years I have become infirm and I can’t genuflect to save my life:( .
 
Much as we would sometimes like to kick irreverent communicants in the shins, an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion is the servant of the congregation and should avoid all temptation to feel important. We should give the Eucharist in humility and pray for those we think may be receiving the Sacred Elements unworthily.

This is an odd phrase, “without dismissing the communicant”, I have never been “dismissed” by the priest when I receive the Eucharist.

No, I believe that only priests are required to know and have access to the GIRM but it is the duty of every pastor to make sure that his congregation is properly formed in what they should be doing in the Mass.

I mean dismiss him and not let him receive for not saying “Amen”.

Maybe I should have used “deny” instead. Oh well
 
Can I just point out that NO ONE told me I should bow my head when I was in RCIA. NO ONE. The priest didn’t say a word. For the longest time I didn’t bow… until finally my roommates sponsor kindly pulled me aside and FINALLY told me.

Some people might NOT KNOW. Simple as that.

Yup, that is the problem. I too did not know until I read the GIRM.
