you (along with other religions) live in point a.
atheists live in point b.

you cannot see point b,
becaus you’re locked inside point a,
along with many of your kind. vice versa.

when someone from the outside
looks upon all religion, they can
see that it’s dark in america
and light in japan, or green or blue
or red, at the same time.
Hahaha, so you are the open minded ones and we are all closeminded. Have you ever met a Christian in your life because this is a completely ignorant statement? From my perspective you are the closeminded one who is unwilling to accept any idea of absolute truth. You create your own truth and you make that into the absolute. You expect us to reject truth and accept your perspective of nihilism. I am sorry but I am not a nihilist and never will be.

If one is a Catholic that is not what we believe. No one is disputing that there are different beleifs among different Christian denominations.

To tell you the truth after reading on your post I’m really not sure all what you’re trying to get at. It appears like me that we are quickly deteriorating into a semantics argument.

So let’s just cut to the chase. Do you believe there are absolute truths? Do you believe the truth is relative?
i believe the concepts of absolute and relative are
limitations of the human mind. right now we
see truth as yes or no,on or off, black or white.
who knows, maybe someday we’ll be able to
see all the colors in betwee, red, green, blue, etc.

but since we are humans,
in order for me to answer your question,
i would have to know what “truth” is.
i do not know what Truth is. even your
son of god, jesus, dared not answer that question.
what is Truth and how does it apply to religion?

what i do know is that, i don’t know (because i’m human).
you believe you do know. that’s where we differ.

lets get back to religion then.

if absolute truth exists in religion,
let me ask you this?

who’s truth is the correct absolute truth?
who’s going to heaven?

You should know what the scriptures say before you reference them. Jesus calls Himself the way, the truth, and the life in John14. Just because He did not answer Pilate does not mean He does not know the truth in an absolute sense. You have completely limited yourself with your rejection of absolute truth. You have stuck yourself in the middle of an insane asylum where you don’t know up from down.

Christians will all tell you the same exact thing. Jesus Christ is the truth. He is the way to salvation. And He can give you life. He is the truth because He is God and everything else comes from this.

so… who’s truth is correct?
you didn’t answer the question.

are you saying that only and all christians go to heaven?
if you believe in jesus christ you get to go to heaven?

I believe that the Catholic Church is true because it was established by Jesus Christ. I certainly have given you an answer. You have established boundaries to things that make it impossible to give a true answer. Just because I say that the Catholic Church is true because Jesus Christ established it does not mean necessarily that all protestants are going to hell. I can not speak about non Catholics. God will judge them. You assume that no one can know the truth and that God can not reveal Himself. As I already mentioned you have put yourself in an insane asylum where you can not say what is up and down.

ok now we’re getting somewhere.
so the catholic religion is the one true religion.
everyone else is going to hell then.
if yours is the one true religion, then other’s are not.
can you explain?

boundaries? i say there are no boundaries in religion.

where did i say that god cannot reveal himself?
if i see god in the shape of one thing and you see
him in the shape of another, can they not both be true?

i know what is up and down relative to me.
someone standing in australia right now might
say i am down and he is up. lol.

you make it too easy.

As soon as you assume that truth is relative then you have assumed that we can not know truth and that God can not reveal Himself at the least and at the worst He doesn’t even exist.

Of course we all see truth from our own perspective, but that truth in itself is unchanging. It is what it is. As God said to Moses, ‘I am who am’. God does not change. God is eternal and will always be. We can see different aspects of that one truth, but they can not contradict each other when it comes down to it. God can not both exist and not exist. One man might see something that another does not see of the truth but if they both see truth then their truth will work together.

As I already said, you have limited things in a way that I don’t necessarily accept. Who says that all protestants are going to hell? I sure didn’t. I do not judge protestants salvation and I don’t judge the salvation of non-Christians. All I say is what has been revealed which is that Christ is the way the truth and the light.

i didn’t say anything about you judging.
you are not the judger. you’re just a
human being like me.

but if you don’t know who’s going to hell,

do all catholics get to go to heaven then?

teach can wish me to be a girl if he wants.
for all he knows i could be, right?

fact is, he doesn’t know,
for sure. lol.
According to your philosophy, neither do you. Stop limiting yourself to your own little box. 😉

Salvation is not simply based on whether you are Catholic or not. It is not simply a statement of faith that saves you. Maybe you were a born again protestant and that is why you assume that this might be true? Salvation is communion with God. This is given to those who are willing to sacrifice themselves for God. Salvation is a process of becoming like Christ. Those who have chosen to pursue this relationship will recieve salvation. God saves those who choose to let God save them. There are only two places, heaven and hell. Those who do not go to heaven are in hell. He is simply a lack of communion with God. Will all Catholics be in heaven? I don’t know but I know that many are. Will there be protestants in heaven? I don’t know, God is the judge. Same with non-Christians.

for someone who KNOWS absolute truth,
i figured you’d be able to answer the question
with an absoluteness. you are beginning to
sound like me. lol.

it sounds to me like
you’re saying there are
many paths to heaven,
not just the catholic way.

Here is post #57. And it is as meaningless as all of the rest. I believe in radioactive termites. They will take over the world and the world will supply their feeding frenzy. So, in that light, I shall start to worship the big termite in the sky so that I might be spared the wrath of this most terrifying tribulation…

You know, this is kind of fun. With WindyHair’s philosophy anyone can blow out any words and no ears need to receive them because nothing means everything and everything means nothing…And around and around we go…:whacky: :hypno: :whacky: :banghead:

actually, since I am in agreement with everything Rome teaches concerning the scriptures and sacred tradition and I know hundreds of others personally who are in agreement also, that would make the author of this thread incorrect.

The reason I said he was correct in a way, is because even the Church leaves some things open to debate… not everything has been defined infallibly. So people (even if they’re all Catholic) can differ on certain topics as long as they never contradict Church teaching.
