Why are you arguing this? It is not the topic. Even at @Rau only went so far as to point out that bishops world wide have suspended Mass obligation. The posts you quote aren’t arguing this. I am beginning to think the last day has been one straw man you created. Why argue over something that is not real, and not disagreed with?

It’s one thing if some people choose to be martyrs by risking infection to gather for the Eucharist, but are all the people those ‘martyrs’ potentially infect also considered martyrs by association? How do you explain those suffering and deaths in your model of authority and the Sacraments? Can we force others to be martyrs with us?

In response you your question to @(name removed by moderator), I’d summarise his arguments as follows:

1). Bishops do not sin if they break the law in pursuit of doing their work of providing the sacraments;
2). Bishops are free to disregard public health orders if they impinge on the offering of the sacraments;
3). The bishops who are not disregarding the public health orders (to enable more people to attend mass) have lesser faith than those who do (if there are any).

You need to make your point here. Was St Borromeo defying government orders about group gatherings? Or are you talking about his selfless work among plague victims which doesn’t address the question?
