Better keep California and a number of other states off your list as well. People tell me that it’s noble to stay in Canada in order to help change things…but I don’t see what I can do. Our bishops need to be stronger, and I think that I could accomplish this with prayer from afar.

Still, I guess I’m not going anywhere, so please keep our priests and bishops in your prayers.

I know, we are sheltered in our diocese. I feel confident that I could go to any parish in our diocese (except maybe one) and not have to worry about craziness. I will pray, it makes it so much harder when your bishop is no help.

Yes, please do. By all means - call the Pope. Because we all know thats exactly what Jesus would have done. I am sure he would have refused someone who wanted to come to his table because they were Samaritan - Jews never associated with them. Oh wait - he asked a Samaritan woman for a drink. Never mind.

Hi tiggerific. Our Church teaches that only Catholics who are in a full state of grace may receive Communion. Jesus is always present to us in the Gospel, through the sacrifice of the Mass and in the Holy Spirit. No one is denying Jesus to anyone.

But the Eucharist allows you to achieve full communion with Christ. You should only present yourself for communion if you truly believe Jesus is present in the Eucharist (as witnessed by the fact that you are baptized Catholic) and if you are not in a state of mortal sin.

These are the teachings of the Church. You can get upset with it if you want but that is the way it is.

To the OP, even if you know that your bishop will do nothing, you should write him first anyways, as he is who you have first recourse too.

Assuming, as you say he will do nothing, the best you can hope for is a letter saying this. If this is the case, I would attach that letter to your own to Cardinal Llovera, and if you receive no letter(give the Bishop a bit to respond, they are busy people), then just make mention in your letter to His Eminence that you did appeal, but received no response.

This is not to get your bishop in trouble too, as much as it is to show Cardinal Llovera that you have taken the correct steps to address the problem
