How were the animals from the ocean saved during Noah and the ark?

Or not.

Catholics are not required to be biblical literalists.
Nor are they required to treat everything as a symbol. Catholics are allowed to believe that the first several chapters of Genesis are either literal or allegorical. There is no requirement either way.

Which is why it’s a waste of time trying to figure out how freshwater fish survived.

Just to have an understanding I suppose. If you believe in evolution, you would also want to know how that works.
Because that’s based on science which involves the testing of hypotheses.

But if you believe in scripture as literal truth why do you need evidence?

I guess just to grow in Faith. If you believe in evolution, why do you want evidence?

To see if it makes sense I guess.

Is that what you are doing too?

I’m just curious, not arguing.

Probably b/c they believe it as literal truth. If you believed it as a allegory than you wouldn’t need or want proof. Truth seeks evidence.

My interpretation is that the Flood was a literal historical event, but its description in the Bible is partly literal and partly figurative. There was a great Flood event, but it did not cover all land with water and did not kill all humans or animals outside of the Ark. So the animals and people on the Ark were representative of all life on earth, but the Ark need not have contained examples of all species.

The ocean waters remained salty, and the lake and river waters remained fresh.

The cause of the great Flood? I agree with the theory of W. Bruce Masse, who says that the Flood was caused by a comet strike in the deep ocean.
