Noah's Ark in Iran?

It’s interesting. It poses some interesting questions. But it didn’t get me too excited.

Robert Service wrote a poem about an old sourdough who claimed to have found the Ark in Canada’s Yukon, and was trying to finance an expedition to bring it back. He offered to sell stock in his Ark-expedition company.
I met him latrer in a bar and passed a gay remark
About an ancient miner and an option on the Ark
He gazed at me reproachfully, as only topers can
But what he said I can’t repeat – he was a bad old man!

I came across this recently. I did a search, and found nothing here on CAF. What do you all think of this?

Giannawannabe,

I would remind you that these are the same people who “discovered” the “gospel of Judas” earlier this year.

Mount Ararat, where Noah’s ark supposedly came to rest, is on the border between Turkey and what used to be the USSR. Every decade or two some researcher releases new claims to have discovered it, or some remnants of the ark.

:rotfl: Mt. Arafat. Now that’s funny!

In addition to Christianity, Judaism and Islam, there seems to be a great flood in the lore of almost all cultures. But not the Ark on a Mountain.

What’s so funny about Mt. Ararat? I fail to understand the cause of your hilarious laughter.

Peace to you,
Angelos N.

This has been floating around since I was a kid and I am now 55. There has been expedition after expedition in all those years yet none has been able to bring any physical evidence back. If man can climb Mt. Everest, document it, etc., what is so difficult about Mt. Ararat?

A better explanation is to be found in the book Before the Flood Check it out.

Angelos,

In my original post I accidentally typed “Mr. Ararat” as “Mr. Arafat.” I went back and edited the post and corrected the typo, but apparently mystified got to it before I did.

Thanks for the clarification. 🙂
I would not find that spelling mistake funny because Arafat is originally the name of a mountain in Arabia 😃

Peace,
Angelos N.
