Yeah a lot of the pyramid techniques are theory, I saw a documentary (either Nat. Geo or Discovery) that said engineers couldn’t figure out how the Egyptians made such straight cuts and moved such massive stone blocks, they came up with some rather amusing theories but nothing solid. On another documentary they couldn’t figure out how Romans built the aqueducts or domes without modern machines such as height and precision.
Also Nazca Lines come to mind. Scientist, to my knowledge, still haven’t figured out how they could make such gigantic “drawings” without current or somewhat current technology (like flight to be able to see if they were actually making a shape). They discovered things from ancient times that perplex today’s “experts”, why should a giant ship be so far off?
I think the problem, if there really even is one could be that science does not attempt or claim to try to solve things that it can not nor needs to.

I have no problem with science, I actually enjoy it, but my problem is when certain scientists are stumped and can’t prove it exists they claim it doesn’t. But you can say if they can’t disprove it then it must exist. I was just using the previous examples of things scientists can still see, touch and what have you and still have a hard time proving how they got built or why they even exist and if that gives them a hard time why not something that they haven’t found yet. I think ancient peoples were far more intelligent, creative and inspired then we give them credit for.

A boy scout troop with a compass and a ball of string could lay out the nazca lines. If the space aliens hadn’t already done it.

I think that anyone who believes these bible stories literally is missing their point. You are bringing your creator down to the level of human beings…only humans would need a ‘week’ to ‘do’ a job in this way. Sadly there is still great ignorance about evolution - paradoxically, it’s so stunningly simple despite the complexity, when you really study it. Why can you not face the evidence available to you, see the beauty of it, and still keep your faith? Is your faith so unsteady that you are afraid to look and understand evolution and marvel at its (or God’s) workings? Do you have to see your God as a being with human emotions and a magic wand? My father was a Catholic scientist and he marvelled at evolution. It doesn’t have to destroy your faith. It is not evolution that destroyed my ‘faith’.

Ah, the weak faith argument again. Here is Pope Benedict:

A group of Japanese contacted the Egyptian government not long ago and asked if they could build a small scale pyramid. After agreeing on a site, they were allowed to start work. They brought modern equipment of course, but after much effort, failed and went home.

I agree, Ed, only flying saucers with gigawatt laser saws and sky hooks could have built the pyramids.

Uh, ultrasonic drills, an area filled with chemicals, a Helmholtz generator, and a few other observations.

That book, with contents about ancient Egyptian power plants, masers and hydrogen generators, doesn’t inspire confidence in your cause. Even the cover art makes me cringe.

Cringe all you want. The author has the necessary background to make his case. I suggest you read it.

Peace,
Ed
I listen to this stuff all the time on late night radio. Paranormal, UFO, ghosts, bigfoots, conspiracy lunacy is great entertainment. But that’s all it is.

The quickest way to stop the conversation is to use the word conspiracy. Have it your way.

I thought “UFO skyhooks” would have been enough. Its kind of hard to intelligently discuss paranormal lunatic authors who think the pyramids were an ancient power generating station.

I’ve read the book. The author is not some nut but understands what it would take to machine granite blocks to the accuracy he’s discovered. He brought the necessary means to show the extreme accuracy. The word paranormal appears nowhere in his writing.

Hey Ed,

How are you? What basis do you use to determine that something is fact, or still a point open to question and further discovery?

I do not know if a unicorn was basic or not. Do you?

Let us say that dino’s were taken aboard. What guarantees their survival/proliferation afterwards?
No I don’t know. You were the one who brought up the idea of “basic” so I was simply asking what you meant by it.

BTW------------------------

I’m not really in this fight, but I’ll comment anyway…

From my New Age days, I can tell you that while the Pyramids were almost certainly not built by UFOs, there is almost DEFINITELY Power in those stones.
Giza stands at the exact center of the world, if it matters.
And some sort of Power IS in those stones.

Some actually say Enoch built them as a repository of “Godly Knowledge.” Seriously.

Whether that is true or not, I have no idea. But I would say the Pyramids are more than just “Pyramids.” That, at least, has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Even run-fo-mill-archaeologists admit the Great Pyramid was not really intended to be a Tomb, but some sort of Marker.
Of what, many theories abound. None of them really convincing to me.

Now, whether the Pyramids derive their power from God, I also have no idea.
Probably not, to be honest. :o

The direction this thread has taken strikes me as rather silly now!
I would like to answer edwest’s post about a ‘weak faith argument’ - passing the buck to Pope Benedict - for it doesn’t answer my point. Perhaps you should read about evolution yourself and not just read the present Pope’s view on it. The book ‘Almost like a whale’ by Steve Jones I can recommend. My point is that some proper scientists can maintain their faith in God as well as having a healthy respect for the wonders of evolution. I had thought that the Catholic church had taken a realistic view on the subject - having had their fingers burnt over Galileo - but it seems that, as on so many things, this pope has been backtracking on reality and dragging the church back to the Dark Ages.

I’m good, thanks for asking. I use multiple sources to determine the soundness of everything I read. In the case of the book in question, I can relate various claims to other sources. I had training in electronics and understand the concepts brought up along with the evidence presented.

I have been blessed by knowing a few genius level people who have provided me with additional information. Research takes time, but especially today, it needs to be done to understand important issues. On those things still open to question, I look to the Church as the most reliable resource I have to deal with controversial issues being discussed today.

Peace,
Ed
