So I had a question posed to me… I’m not questioning the Church one bit about it, but its just something that I would like understanding…

If killing is immoral, then why did God point his fingers at us and kill humanity?

Now either this story is allegorical or literal. If its literal, the question posed above is still valid. If its allegorical, why would God make an analogy about how its okay to kill sinners?

Note: In no way am I assuming what God does or did, and in no way am I saying the Church is wrong or invalid.

Thank you,.

Who is the author and arbitor of life? God.

The author of life gives life and takes away life. There is no immorality in that.

It is we, who are not the author of life, who may not take what God has given.

To expand on 1ke’s post, a good analogy is this: if you own a painting it is not immoral for you to destroy it, but it is immoral for someone else to take and destroy it, because it doesn’t belong to them. Same with life: God is both the painter and the gallery owner. All life belongs to him, not to us. We don’t even belong to ourselves!
