“Hundreds of people swept through the Magnificent Mile and other parts of downtown Chicago early Monday, smashing windows, looting stores,” reports the Chicago Tribune .

There was also gunfire and violence against police officers. As of this writing, downtown Chicago is all but closed to those trying to get to work on a Monday morning.

The details reveal just how organized this was….

The looting and rioting started just after midnight and lasted “nearly five hours.” Get this…

“People darted through broken store windows and doors along Michigan Avenue carrying shopping bags full of merchandise,” the Tribune reports, adding, “Cars dropped off more people as the crowd grew. At least one U-Haul van was seen pulling up.”

A U-Haul .

People being dropped off like it was just another morning at Looting School.

Hundreds of them. All at once.

This was not spontaneous.

What we appear to have in Chicago is one more act of organized, left-wing terrorism, similar to what we are seeing in other Democrat-run cities, most especially Portland. . . .

Even the leftists are admitting now what the conservatives have been saying all along.

"And to be clear, this had nothing to do with legitimate, protected First Amendment expression.”"
CHICAGO’S CRIME WAVE

Chicago looting triggers over 100 arrests, 13 officers hurt as mayor warns criminals: ‘We are coming for you’

‘We are not going to let our city be taken over by criminals and vigilantes,’ Lightfoot said

By Stephanie Pagones | Fox News

. . . Police said more than 100 people were arrested and at least 13 officers were hurt over the course of the events.

“We are waking up in shock this morning,” Lightfoot said. “These individuals engaged in what can only be described as brazen and extensive criminal looting and destruction. And to be clear, this had nothing to do with legitimate, protected First Amendment expression.” . . .

. . . "Car caravans” of looters made their way into Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, Gold Coast and Irving North neighborhoods and neighboring commercial districts overnight, which officials believe was spurred by a police-involved shooting in Englewood earlier in the day, said Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown.

At the scene of the South Side shooting, “tempers flared fueled by misinformation as the afternoon turned into the evening,” Brown said. . . .

. . . “CPD became aware of several social media posts encouraging looting downtown,” Brown said, and the department dispatched roughly 400 officers to the region. . . . .

. . . Chaos and destruction unfolded over the next several hours, as several posts to social media show looters breaking into high-end stores, including Saks Fifth Avenue and a Tesla dealership, with many using anything they can – even, in at least one case, a car – to do so. . . .
The city kept many of its Chicago River bridges up in an effort to contain the looting in the early morning. . .

"Criminals took to the streets with confidence that there would be no consequences for their actions . . . .

. . . announced that officers would be working longer, 12-hour shifts, and “all days off” would be canceled until further notice. The city will also be restricting downtown access from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. . .

“Stores that were targeted were more than just large chain stores. There are small businesses and restaurants representing our city’s jobs and livelihoods, all of which were in the process of recovering or on the verge of recovering.” . .

No matter what happens in Chicago, you can bet Breitbart will be on top of it.

What is your point? Are you suggesting a “blame the messenger” paradigm?

Do you think this is somehow Breitbart’s fault?

His responses consist of attacking the source, or complaining about republicans past mistakes any time one is critical of Democrats. Rarely simply speaks to the topic itself.

(Democrat Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot) called upon court officials and the state’s attorney to make sure people who are, or who will be arrested, are “held accountable.”
Beware!

"Accountable" to the leftist leaders means something different than it does to normal people.
  • “Accountable” to the leftist leaders means doing away with bail.
  • “Accountable” to the leftist leaders means letting them out of jail and prison if they even make it that far. Corona virus is a good pretext to “let 'em go!”
  • “Accountable” to the leftist leaders means giving felons voting ability again so they don’t have their feelings hurt (feel “disenfranchised”).
  • “Accountable” to the leftist leaders means threatening to fire and defund not the criminals, but the police.
“Accountable” indeed.

For the record, I am not a Democrat nor have I voted on Election Day since 2000. I happen to live in a Chicago suburb since I didn’t like driving in the city. But you guys don’t need to be beating up on the city just because Trump does.

Muting…

Blaming the people reporting, now blaming the people discussing.

What next? Blaming the victims?

Is this the police’ fault for many of them being injured? Is this the businesses faults too?

Nobody is beating up on “the city” of Chicago except the bad guys.

That’s who the story concerns.

But I think the leftist IDEAS need to be exposed for the disaster they are. Don’t you.

Since Republicans have not been in control of Chicago since 1927, we don’t really know if Republicans could do any better with Chicago. We do know that the Republican “Blonde Boss” of Chicago, William Lorimer, was every bit as corrupt as any Democratic leader. Maybe it is just something about Chicago itself, regardless of who is leading it. Of course Lorimer’s Chicago is not today’s Chicago, so we really don’t have any point of comparison to say that Chicago’s troubles are due to Democratic policies, as Breitbart likes to imply.

Breitbart will attempt to make political hay out of any negative aspect of a big city, which some here have limned as exclusive territory of Democrats in control.
Nobody is beating up on “the city” of Chicago except the bad guys.
Stop. How many times have big city problems been tied to Democratic mayors by conservatives? Look at your head on this thread and in the Breitbart tidbit. Is the fact that the city is primarily Democratic a factor? Just stop.

I know you aren’t a Democrat, just a poster who plays devil’s advocate or takes a contrary view in nearly every post, especially when it comes to defending Democrats.

I haven’t voted in a Presidential election since 2016, myself.

There were also people immediately cleaning up the mess made by the looters. Let’s see if Breitbart or Fox News runs this picture:

I didn’t know we had another one since 2016??
Apart from my apparently missing it, looters are stealing other people’s possessions, what do we do if we catch people stealing our possessions, we have the right to shoot them. Do that a few times and the rest would get the idea it’s wrong to steal other people’s possessions, sounds harsh I know, but God said" thou shalt not steal".

Fox News blamed the mayor and wondered what will happen tonight. Still nothing on the cleanup though. I can guess why that is.

Not always and not exactly. An IN man got 8 years for shooting someone driving off in his car. Gun ownership requires knowledge and responsibility.
