Would you attend daily services if they were available at your church? Do you think your church (the congregation) would benefit from a daily service?

I go to Communion most Wednesdays, and I used to go to adoration when I lived near a church where it was offered. If Daily Morning Prayer was offered, I’d go as often as I could. Time would get to be an issue for most of my fellow parishoners, and for me.

My schedule would exclude daily attendance, but I would certainly attend when I could. As for your second question, receiving the means of Grace through word and sacrament are always beneficial.

Scheduling is a large issue. I try to go Wednesday evenings, most of the daily masses around here are in the morning.

One thing I have found is that a daily Saturday mass in the morning is almost next to impossible to find, but I have found a parish that has it.

Part of the reason for going is to be together with your church family. Going daily you lose out of that meeting and greeting function. There may be other reasons for going everyday but services, as we celebrate on Sundays, is not a reason.

I’m not sure I understand your reasoning.

A service is not just about me, but something shared with the community. The community will not attend everyday thus it is not a service, as we celebrate on Sundays is a service.

The Meeting House is open at noon…but it is a way from my home. I “enter into Meeting” most every day alone or with a Friend. It is a wonderful experience to “enter into Meeting” with many Friends…but when I can’t…“where two or three are together in my name…there am I in their midst.”

I have driven across town on my days off to attend weekday Meeting…it added to my day.

DIVINE SERVICES

The orthodox church, in example of Christians of Apostolic times (Act Apostol 2:45) all days of the week makes holy with the church services. In this way she relegates to each day of the week special holy remembrances, as well as the memory of those Saints of that day of the yearly cycle. Daily performed church services, consist of unchangable parts and changable parts. This various parts are kept in various Church Service books; Chasoslov, Slujhebnik and Oktoik.

All are encouraged to attend Utrenja (morning service) or Vechehnja (evening service) depending on ability. Young, old people, all believers try to attend like these:

But wouldn’t the community be whoever is there? I’m at a loss here. Why do you think that a great number of people gathered there (the community) is what it’s all about? What about 2 or 3 gathered…?

Some churches have thousands in the congregation. Others have fewer than 50. I’m not sure why you think the whole congregation has to be there for it to be a real service. Isn’t the service about worshiping God? Can’t 2 or 3 people worship?

I guess I need to hear your definition of service. I can’t imagine a service being defined as “the whole congregation gathered to worship”, as if having a few people missing would negate the service.

I don’t follow your religion, but I think your services are legitimate services, even if only a few people can make it.

That would not necessarily be " a service" that one goes to a central meeting place to attend. Now a church body may be down to two or three and have their service weekly. But every time they see each other it would not be “a service”

I’m still confused. Are you saying that the community can’t have a service during the week? If so, why not?
