I can’t really make a judgment on this particular person because I don’t know her. But it is not really healthy to not experience a full range of emotions. If you read the lives of the saints, you could say they were at peace, but not always “happy”. I have actually known someone like this and it turned out that they were actually the victim of abuse and were only projecting the outward image of “happiness”. You never really know what’s in someone’s heart. If you are looking for a meditation to inspire peace and happiness in your soul, why not “The Beatitudes”?
**The Beatitudes - an invitation to happiness **
The Beatitudes are at the heart of Jesus’ preaching. They show us what will really make us happy.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
Rejoice and be glad,
for your reward is great in heaven.
Matthew 5:13-12
