Certainly if you are healthy, there is no reason you cannot walk a mile in good weather. My church is just over a mile away and I often walk there for Mass just for the exercise.

I just have to lways have a snack and emergency sugar on me and Father is okay with me checking my blood sugar in the pew and eating a snack if I need to and it will do me good to get away from my anti Catholic family

Even though I am 5 feet 2 and 3/4 inches and weigh around 108 I can still benefit from the exercise

Also, ask the priest to ask the congregation or specific parishioners to get you to the church on time.

Thank you for all the replys. Starting tomorrow I am going to start walking a mile one way and then I will walk back.

Don’t be bashful about asking fellow church goers for a ride back home. Most would be happy to take you, especially since it isn’t that far.

It’s wonderful to go to the Triduum services but they are not Holy Days of Obligation. If your parish has missallettes, I would ask the priest if I could have one (explain why) and pray the prayers, read the readings at home when you can’t attend. There are even hymns in there you cold sing by yourself.

I know they are not holy days of obligation I meant holy days in general

You can only do as much to go for mass or Good Friday service. If you cannot, which is beyond your control, it is sad that you should miss an important event in the Church, but it will be not held against you.

Have you tried calling for Uber?

God bless.

My heart is for you. I hope there will be a breakthrough so that you can go.

As alternative, you can follow the service online or by reading and reflecting on the readings of the mass/service.

May God bless you.

I guess the thing that totally irritates me is that they were willing to take my cousin to a pentecostal gathering because he has claimed to have found the Lord and that is much farther than what I requested. and the fact that he has one of those security things on his leg it seems that he has more priviledge than I do and he is always telling me how lazy that he thinks I am because I draw a pension and disability My doctor is the one that requested the disability for me I worked for a major retailor for 32 years and recently moved back to my hometown I am working on getting low income housing near my own parish

Just a thought. I grew up in a small town. No taxis and Uber wasn’t a thing. (Well… cellphones weren’t a thing either. XD ) Anyway, my parish didn’t have a ride share type thing, but we did have a couple parishoners who talked to our priest about needing help and he put the word out that someone needed help getting to mass. They were able to find rides for any mass they wanted to go to after that; even daily mass. So maybe even if there’s no organized thing at the parish for transportation your priest knows someone who can either give you a ride or at least knows the person in the parish that just loves to send out e-mails and prayer requests and that person would be happy to fire up the social network to help you out.

If I knew you were prepared to go, but just needed a ride, I would have given you one, any one else too for that matter, but I simply don’t know this.

Maybe we could start a support group for these type of things in each of our parishes.

That’s really nothing new. When I was a kid, our family lived in a then new subdivision on the edge of the parish- less than a 100 yards from the border. This was back in the early 1960’s, before everyone had multiple cars in their homes, and some people didn’t even have a car. The school bus was dispatched to bring people the mile and a half to Mass on Sunday morning.

Bus ministries are still popular in a lot of circles, there are numerous protestant churches that have them to bring folks in from far afield.

Good Friday is not a Holy Day of Obligation.
You didn’t commit any sin by not going.

Patient endurance is what Jesus did on the way to Calvary.
Continue to love and be cheerful to your family and you are doing what pleases God.

Please…talk to your priest…from one of your posts it appears he knows of your condition…if you live in a small town surely there must be someone who can pick you up and take you back home after mass…in fact it is a duty as a Christian to help those in need…I think it would be bordering on a sin if any Catholic didn’t offer to help a fellow Catholic who found it hard to get to mass…especially if it’s just a small town

Well I just walked to the parish and back I am tirred but I could do it in apinch have to make sure that I have my bloodtest meter and emergency sugar and snacks my former priest knew of my condition but I am back in my hometown and I am getting to know the new priest and he is very nice about letting do what i need to do without making me go to the restroom And my cousin told my cousin with the felony that when he got the thing on his ankle off he was going to have to do more walking that if I could do it atmy age I am over 50 that he could do it at 27 0r 28

Yes!

Rejoice!

Jesus warned that the servant is not greater than the Master–but here’s what the Apostles Taught:
7 Be not deceived, God is not mocked. 8 For what things a man shall sow, those also shall he reap. For he that soweth in his flesh, of the flesh also shall reap corruption. But he that soweth in the spirit, of the spirit shall reap life everlasting. 9 And in doing good, let us not fail. For in due time we shall reap, not failing. 10 Therefore, whilst we have time, let us work good to all men, but especially to those who are of the household of the faith. (Galatians 6)
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I say, rejoice. 5 Let your modesty be known to all men. The Lord is nigh. 6 Be nothing solicitous; but in every thing, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. 8 For the rest, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever modest, whatsoever just, whatsoever holy, whatsoever lovely, whatsoever of good fame, if there be any virtue, if any praise of discipline, think on these things. (Philippians 4)
15 See that none render evil for evil to any man; but ever follow that which is good towards each other, and towards all men. 16 Always rejoice. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In all things give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you all. 19 Extinguish not the spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5)
Preach to them through your example; no matter how badly they treat you and demean you, offer them Christ’s Love and Peace!

Maran atha!

Angel
