This is my first post - thanks for being here! Would it be a sin to pay for a service, the proceeds of which are going toward a charitable cause that goes against the Church in some way? Take, for example, a car wash where the money goes toward a Protestant mission to a Catholic country. Clearly, it would be better to find an alternative vendor, but would it necessarily be a sin to use the Protestant youth group’s car wash? You are receiving a service and owe some sort of compensation. Would that payment perhaps be morally independent of how it’s used by the vendor? After all, you can licitly purchase from a department store who you know donates to, say, Planned Parenthood, despite the fact that a boycott would be laudable. How would this be any different? Please reference a document of the Magisterium if possible. Thanks!
