I was thinking to become Catholic in the past. But I came home But registered today in order to ask a question there.

I was raised as a Catholic; left finally in my early twenties. Now 63. Interested in how people come to believe in things that have no basis in observable reality. I think people evolved with a tendency to religious belief, both to manage the knowledge that cam e with the evolution of consciousness (we will die) and as a way of building groups stronger than groups that had less of a tendency to believe in the help of divine forces. So I see religion and related beliefs as biologically-originated. I remain fascinated by the range of these beliefs and the similarities between those who adhere to them. I’m also interested in the extent to which science and reason can lead people away from religious belief. This form provides a lot of examples of things which interest me!

I came to this site to have a very specific question answered. To date, I have not received an answer that is definitive. I had asked how the Catholic Church, officially, viewed my status as a professing former Catholic. I asked this question solely out of curiosity.
I have no animosity toward the Catholic Church. In fact, I credit the Catholic Church with laying the foundation of my Christian faith.

So, your question is how the Church views you stating you are no longer Catholic?

If that is your question, the Church simple views you as a Catholic that is not currently a practical Catholic. That would be their official view.

I am transitioning out of Mormonism, am genuinely interested in Catholicism, and CA is a place where I can learn and ask questions without alarming my family and or negatively impacting my life.

I also listen to EWTN and Ave Maria radio.

Try reading Why We’re Catholic by Trent Horn. He does an excellent job explaining all of that.

I’m currently re-reading it and learning more about the Faith. It’s an amazing book
