Non catholic pray rosary

Hi , im not a formal catholic because im baptised in a baptist church but i go to a catholic church aswell and follow that catholic traditions and my aunties catholic but anyway i was just wondering if i can pray the rosary because i think its a great idea ! 🙂
also do you think i can take it to school ?

You can and it will go you much good. You can pray along the day, 10 holy-marys at a time, in the bus, walking, as an interruption of study for you are tired, before going to bed, after you get up and are dressing, on taking shower, everywhere.

School? I am a teacher but not in the USA, which is a complicated country. So, I do not know. Here, in Europe, it is fashion for the young girls to wear a rosary on the neck.

Wait. I thought you weren’t baptized yet?
 
Just curious, if you want to pray the rosary, and you go to a catholic church and believe in the traditions of the catholic teachings, have you concidered being catholic. Just because you were baptized in another church does not mean you can’t become cathollic. I just wanted you to know that in case you didn’t. You can absolutely pray the Rosary!!! I prayed it daily before my entry into the Church and I still do!
 
You are more than welcome to pray the Rosary, but be mindful of this: all the good things that we share with our brothers and sisters who are seperated from us, like the Bible, Baptism, etc., and in this instance, the Rosary, are themselves calls to unity with the Catholic Faith. The Rosary is the most common, the most wide-spread, of the Marian devotions. Ask the Lady to lead you where you ought to go.
 
You certainly can pray the rosary anywhere but don’t take it to school because the idea of separation of church and state holds and you would be placing your teacher in an uncomfortable position. If you do take it to school, don’t take it out of your pocket. By the way, you can pray the rosary without the beads so long as you keep the sequence straight.

I will be very soon but I can’t b bothered to go into it again .
Also I am thinking about becoming catholic and going to start going to a mass when the priest gets back but it doesn’t mean I can’t go to my baptist church also .
 
Sure, pray the Rosary. But be careful taking it to school, you should probably find out school policy on such things.

Find out your school’s policy on religious items in the school because some do not allow it or do not take it out of your pocket.
 
Hi yes my school has no objection to it as far as I’m aware so I would be able to take it

I can’t imagine and don’t think that they can tell you whether or not to bring a rosary to school. A decade or so ago, the school board in Santa Fe, NM, attempted to forbid kids to wear shirts that had images of Our Lady of Guadalupe on them, as gangs had taken to using that as an emblem. The Archbishop of Santa Fe had a coniption fit (and rightly so) and the school board hastily backpedaled.

Unfortunately, some also wear the Rosary as a gang symbol.

U.S. Constitution, 1st Amendment

“Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free practice thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or the freedom of the press…”

I think having a Rosary or a Crucifix, whatever, is clearly protected by the U.S. Constitution. I’m 58, I think I would go for it if I was 18.

The People should not have to hide their religion in 2011 America.

As others have said, you most certainly can pray the Rosary. You also may wear the Brown Scapular, or any others for that matter. If I were you I wouldn’t hesitate bringing it to school either, although, I don’t think I’d recommend praying it in the open though, it would probably bring unwanted attention to yourself.

I have to say; I’ve been following your posts on here and they remind me of a certain section from Chapter 16 of the Gospel of Mathew:
[15] Jesus saith to them: But whom do you say that I am? [16] Simon Peter answered and said: Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God. [17] And Jesus answering, said to him: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven.

That is a very good point but… The person that asked the original question lives in England, so U.S. law would not apply. 🙂
