So no I don’t believe most marriages would last. However, I don’t believe you should ever murder your spouse except in the most extreme circumstances and under the supervision of a competent spiritual adviser.

So if a husband has to get his prostate removed entirely and consequently, loses normal sexual function, you don’t think the marriage could last?

Or what if he had an extreme heart condition to where sex would be life-threatening for him, the marriage is over?

Hmmm…I seem to recall my vows including something about “in sickness and in health”

Of course it can last and the marriages that do survive are amazing testaments. I still don’t think that most marriages will last. I wouldn’t expect a couple facing abstinence until menopause would evere resume normal relations. I think that the most likely outcome is divorce or at the very least separate lives.

Of course one needs to allow for the base level of divorce, which is itself very high. But what a dim view of marital love you express.
