I am guessing that as a catholic in good standing, I am not allowed to be in a wedding that is being held at Unity church, especially since the groom to be is an ex catholic whose catholic marriage was blessed in Rome. Let me know if I am wrong. He has not had an annulment. Please explain. Thanks, rsh

If a Catholic (or even a so-called ex-Catholic) decides to marry outside of the Church or has already been married and does not have a decree of nullity, I would definitely stay away from the up-coming ceremony. A Catholic who does attend such a ceremony may be seen as being supportive of both the circumstances surrounding the ceremony as well as the ceremony itself, which could be viewed as scandalous. Generally, I follow the rule of “will the Church look at this ceremony as being valid?” If the answer is no, then my presence will not occur.
