Non-catholics at mass

i am 18 and converted to catholtolism but my parents havent and have no intention of doing so but they wanted to come the Easter mass wtih me and have been to a few masses before mostly chrismas and my baptism but they were wondering if they were welcome no one at my church has done anything to make them think the are not they just wanted to make sure it wasnt breaking some rules by them being there so could someone please answer my question

Heck sure they can come!!! Bring them along. You know they cannot receive Holy Communion, but they are invited to sing along and pray along with the rest.

PS: If you’re going to the Easter Vigil, leave home early to get a good seat.

I am a convert just like you. I converted to the church (3 years this Saturday). I was also 18 when I converted.

Anyway, my mom grew up Baptist but is no longer a part of that church. She comes to mass with me every week. She particates in everything (except for communion). I think that if it wasn’t for her support I probably wouldn’t be as active in my parish as I am today.
I don’t see anything wrong with your parents coming with you, as long as they don’t recieve the Eucharist.
Maybe one day you’re family will decide to join the church like you have. It has taken my mom over two years, but she is starting to consider joining the church!

All are welcome at Mass.

They should refrain from the Eucharist, since they are not in communion with the Catholic Church. They can participate in other areas-- bow, stand, kneel, etc-- to the extent they feel comfortable. If they do not want to kneel, they can sit.

They are always welcome to come to Mass, Eric, at any Catholic parish they wish to attend.

However, I trust that they know and abide by the rules regarding the Eucharist: that it’s off-limits to them, unless and until they themselves become Catholic through the official sacramental routes, etc.

Hi, Eric,

I just want to add a quick thought to all the good responses.
I am also a convert, and the very fact that I was welcomed to attend Mass, and the exposure I got to Christ just by sitting there, afforded me the grace to convert.
