I still like the many paths to salvation approach (with a few glaring exceptions), I just have a difficult time beleiving that the Christian GOD is the only 1 out there, maybe GOD has been revealed to humanity in different ways, who am I to know ?
I have thought about this myself. Deep stuff.

No, not very deep. You’re basically promoting religious indifference, something that’s been condemned by the Church ever since it’s founding by Our Lord. You and zingo227 oughta read the article in last November’s This Rock called “What is an Elephant Like? Relativism, Pluralism, and the Question of Truth.” If you promote such relativism, you are undermining the entire Gospel and Catholic Faith.

“We need no curious searchings, when we have Jesus Christ; we need no further enquiry, when we have the gospel. When we believe, we need to believe nothing more. For this we believe at the very beginning, that there is nothing more to believe.”

Hi:
One day while dailing around the radio in my car waiting for my wife to do some shopping I came across a Catholic radio station. I started to listen for a few days and decided to investigate further.and logged on the Catholic-Answers Live
I found the Catholic faith to be spiritually shallow and enemic. Also most of what Catholics believe are assumptiom and not based on Biblical truth.
I also think that Catholic idea that non-catholic Christian do not have as Catholics call it “the fullness of the faith” nothing more that sanctimonius self-righteous (Edited out unChristian vulgarity per Forum Rules ) !! (guest what the stars stand for)

The Baptist faith isn’t shallow?? LOL.

Hi:
The Baptist faith is Christ centered with a emphasis on corporate worship, Christian fellowship, daily devotions, daily Bible study, and prayer. And a wonderful knowledge that “greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world”, a 24\7\60\60 relationship with our precious Lord Jesus Christ!!

Peace.

I understand the other components that you wrote, but am a little unsure of what you mean by “corporate worship.” Could you explain?

Thanks.

Peace.

The Catholic Faith is Christ centered with an emphasis on liturgical worship; Christian fellowship; daily devotions; study of the Scriptures, ECF’s, and Magisterial documents; and prayer. And a relationship with God that cannot be had anywhere else but in the Eucharist.

Well, we seem to have quite a bit in common, but you’re missing out on some of the essentials like the Liturgy, Tradition, the Church’s magisterium, and the Eucharist…all of which the Early Church had. By the way, in the catacombs that the first Christians had to hide in, what did they do? Did they have “Bible studies” and “corporate worship” or did they liturgically celebrate the Eucharist in the Holy Sacrfice of the Mass? 😉

Hi
What I meant by corporate worship is that we come together as a group to worship because "where two or three are gathered together in My name there am I in the mist of them. So there you go, we have the Lord Jesus Christ with us in Spirit or spiritual form when we worship, you have Him in the bread and wine.

Have you ever heard of something called “Daily Mass”? :ehh: Lent? What do Baptists do to prepare for the most sacred feast of Easter?

Catholic Checklist:

Emphasis on corporate worship:
Christian fellowship - check
Daily devotions - check
Bible study - check
Prayer - check
Awareness that God is greater than us and that He is in the world - check

As Catholics we have all of the above, except “emphasis on corporate worship”. I don’t know about that because I don’t know what it is. Does that have to do with prayer in businesses?

Do you not realize that Catholics come together to worship? Not only do we encounter Christ in the Eucharist, we encounter Him spiritually through prayer, meditation, in the Sacraments… Why did you believe we “have” Him in only one way?

Hi again
We have Jesus continually in our heart. We become more aware of His presence as we meditate and memorize His Word because Jesus Christ is the Word. He is in us totally and does not have to renewed day by day.

Ditto for us Catholics. He is in us totally. He does not have to be renewed day by day, but WE (weak humans) have to renew our committment to HIM day by day.

Great reply Allis…and I’m glad you mentioned that. The human being is the composite of body and soul…both are important for the body without the soul is a corpse and a soul without a body is a ghost. By the Word of God and through prayer and virtues, Christ enters our soul makes his residence…but He goes further than just the soul, he also glorifies our bodies by giving us HIS BODY–THE HOLY EUCHARIST. So as Catholics we are priveleged to have Him in our soul like our protestant bros. and we also have him in the FLESH. To a Catholic to have only one doesn’t complete the picture for Christ wills that our unity with him be complete. In heaven our body and soul will be both united with God…so the Holy Eucharist not only is our true wealth on earth, it is the true anticipation of Heaven.

For more info check the Theology of the Body by John Paul II. It will blow your mind away.

God bless.

I was received into the Catholic Church about a month ago, after a journey that took several years. For the last couple of years, these forums have played a huge role in helping me increase my knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith. And, it has been very encouraging to read posts by Catholics who are sincere about their faith.

I was just curious as to whether or not these forums have caused any of you to convert to the Catholic Faith regardless of if you had previously intended to or not. Did they open your mind? Did they help you to overcome any prejudices or false beliefs you had about the Church? Did they clarify what Catholics *really * believe? Have these forums made you think, even just for a millisecond, that you might possibly want to become Catholic? Do you have more respect for and less disdain for the Catholic Church (if you ever had any to begin with) after being on these forums?

I’m just wonderin’ 😃
I don’t feel the need to be a Catholic when I am a “KINGS KID”? 🙂 A child of the “Most High”

YES! This site has helped me a lot! Well, I found the main CA site in November or December of 2004, printed several tracts and read, then worked my way over here. I ordered a few books from the shop and read and read. I was still timid b/c I didn’t know much about the local diocese. But the death of JPII and the election of B16 sealed the deal. I was so moved by both. Shortly afterward, I emailed the diocese to find out about RCIA. I will “come home” April 16th!

With regard to the Baptist faith, which I have left for this, there ARE a lot of WONDERFUL Baptists. We tend to focus on the negative on here but they are out there. But yes, despite all I had heard about the Catholic Church and it’s disconnectedness from the Bible, senseless ritual and the like, I can truly say I feel like I have a much CLOSER relationship w/ Jesus than I did before. If you adhere to them, the Church’s practices serve to bring you so close to Jesus and to keep him in your mind constantly. I don’t just men through the Real Presence, either. So much of Catholic worship and devotion serves to do so. For the first time, I feel that I have a goal to work toward.

BrianC, I’ve read a lot of your posts and just wanted to say “Welcome Home!”

:blessyou:
