I remember this fondly. We called it “keeping Watch” and did it every Holy Thursday after Sedar Dinner. The smell of Easter lilies always evokes the memory for me.

We also would have a sign up sheet for that, after the stripping of the altar and the moving of the consecrated hosts to the Garden of Repose.

Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament occurs irregularly, during the year, often as a part of Mass.

Fellow Catholics claim Jesus, the ultimate Good, our Savior, and God, can be found in every Catholic tabernacle in the world. You can pray in his presence during Eucharistic Adoration.

Have any of you non-Catholic Christians given this a try?

Is it something worth considering?

(I am a Catholic and have been to Adoration; I’m asking Protestants)
No, I have not tried Adoration as I’m not convinced of the RP doctrine, although I have prayed silently in two Catholic Churches recently. The silent, reverent surroundings allowed me to contemplate deeply about Father, Son and Holy Spirit as I prayed. I was born and raised RC a long, long time ago and I think contributing to this feeling was an element of nostalgia as well.

So that’s where you name comes from.

One former Baptist to a former Catholic, it’s not just nostalgia. 🙂
