Hold the phones Hellisreal… what, are you out for blood or something? Try being a little more loving and instead of putting Allforhim on the defense an answer may be brought to light.

Goodness…
She has had plenty of time to post anything BUT an answer.

Including being offended by me who earlier complimented her on her posts and WHY I am even asking her a question.

She claims to have such a love for the bible.

I asked her a simple question.

Look at the posts.🤷

Perhaps she doesn’t know what you were asking specifically, or perhaps (like she said) she is trying to digest what you asked so that she can pose a thought out answer rather than give you a pat answer.
Including being offended by me who earlier complimented her on her posts and WHY I am even asking her a question.
And? You sound like you expect her to have an answer to everything right off the bat. She already pointed out that she isn’t a scholar nor does she claim to be some perfect christian who knows everything right now. Give her some breathing room. It is good to compliment but it seem backhanded when you seem to want to pound her in the virtual internet ground.
She claims to have such a love for the bible.
Maybe that is why she wants to take time to think about your question and give it the answer it deserves instead of making it up as some catholics like to accuse us protestants of doing so often. 😉
I asked her a simple question.
Yeah, you weren’t trying to bait her with anything. Your constant pounding on her with your last few posts are an indication that you were waiting for her to have a weak moment and then said ‘AH HA! so you don’t know what you are talking about!!!’. Back off and you may be surprised by her answer… If you even give her a chance to think it through… Sheesh…
Look at the posts.🤷
I have, and I notice that you may have an alterior motive rather than it being ‘just a simple question’. Love and charity brings understanding my friend…😊

ALLFORHIM: I hope you don’t mind my poking my nose in this… I just hate to see this kind of thing ya know?! 😊

yes, Hellisreal you are generally very encouraging, is something wrong??

I asked not just a bible question-

But to ask also what “freedom of Christ” meant----

I dont toss around catch phrases of Our Lord without backup of ANY kind.
Call me crazy Singing beauty- call me what you will-

But I would like to think I dont make Jesus a catch phrase I cant establish,

when asked about it…

Maybe this is something I have not seen done before.

This is why I ask.

We are all learning, after all right?

Dear Kitty-

I still am!

I just dont like seeing someone say something- then make ME the bad guy for challenging them on their so closely held beliefs.

I even used scripture:shrug:

What more can I do?

I did not think that was “out of line”

OR is it?

The feeling that you portray on this thread, though, is that you aren’t just asking a question. You are attacking her but trying to do it in a sly way (not very sly but sly none the less). Your question wasn’t asking to be inquisitive or learn something it was to show weakness and instead of her having the opportunity to think about her answer you were standing there going…

Well, WELL, WELL answer me!!!

Not giving her a real chance to answer…
I dont toss around catch phrases of Our Lord without backup of ANY kind.
Good for you… point?
Call me crazy Singing beauty- call me what you will-
I prefer to call you nothing but a sibling in Christ… And it is Singinbeauty as in Sing IN Beauty… 😃
But I would like to think I dont make Jesus a catch phrase I cant establish,

when asked about it…

Maybe this is something I have not seen done before.
Fair enough… but try to ask without accusing. You will get a MUCH better response.

And…

can I ask…

why your posts…

are posed…

in such…

a broken way?

Just curious… 😛
This is why I ask.
It is good to ask because this is why we are here. But there is a huge difference between asking for knowledge sake and asking because you want to show weakness and make them feel like an idiot.
We are all learning, after all right?
Yes but as I said above, do it in love and God will help you to understand…

SB, if you thought I did not ask in love then you must ask yourself why you think I am “not so sly”

For asking a question that was ignored yet other questions she had time for.

The one liners.

The ones she had to think about—

Well-

still unanswered.

She is a regular poster here and I was unaware she was not familliar with being challenged to cite and back up her claims about Holy Scripture.

🤷

I guess I was wrong about her.🤷

I pray that God shows you a better way of ‘challenging’ fellow Christians. You won’t get answers if you accuse. You only get defensiveness… But with that I am finished. This thread has been hijacked enough! Sorry about that OP! 😃

well perhaps we could be wrong too 😉

its up to All is she wants to try to answer. I think one thing that happens here is people get defensive easily, Im having problems on another thread keeping in my 'Irish" I wish this whole, you are wrong deal would go away, we would learn so much from each other (all of us) if we did.

All of us are in different states of knowledge of the Lord. Some with church backgrounds have more technical historical stuff. Those of us who dont have such a background have our raw faith, but a enthusiasm that can be contageious. If we let Him He will get us to learn alot.

And at the same time no one can agree on something like colours, clothes, art, science, music, we all approach music differently. Why on earth wouldnt we approach God differently? Its like children drawing a picture for Fathers day will give Dad 😉 a different picture and He appreciates them all, while patiently waiting for us to grow. We need to see each other that way too.

Vote and state your reasons if you wish to convert to the Catholic faith.

How many of you are considering to convert to Catholicism?`
I am an ex-Catholic and would never return to Catholicism especially after the child sex abuse fiasco. I found Jesus for real and it wasn’t in the Catholic church. Sorry, I know the truth now and it is not in the Roman church.

I am really asking as a sincere bible reader.

You may not believe me, but I have nothing to hide.

I dont have any problems with AFH.

The fact I stated is I like her posts.

She does have a heart.

So do I.

I agree. She is a sister in Christ.👍

Oh, big surprise, the priest scandal gets brought up again, like Catholic priests have the corner marketed on pedophilia. [sarcasm]**No **Protestant preacher was **ever **involved in a sex scandal.[/sarcasm]

Sorry, but that’s a lousy excuse to leave the Church. Especially to join one that was formed so that Henry VIII could commit adultery and not have to confess it.

Can I conclude that you’re one of those Anglicans who denies the Real Presence, then? Shoot, even Henry VIII, that dirty old man, believed in the Real Presence.

Is this the way a so called Christian treats others?? You trash my faith only because you have a new found one that you believe is THE one. I was Catholic for decades and trust me, you are really in for it. Good luck to you.

You had the audacity to claim that Jesus was not in the Catholic Church, I was merely responding in kind. The Mass is FULL of praise to Jesus, and He is there - Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. I’m sorry you missed Him there, but I think it’s rather uncharitable of you to say “He’s not there” just because you never experienced His presence, and then you let the behaviour of a select few sick men drive you away, instead of allowing that to drive you to your knees, begging God to have mercy on us all. But for the grace of God, all of us are just as capable of heinous sins.

I was not trashing your faith, I was stating the truth about the origins of your denomination of choice. It’s history.

I am fully aware that there are sinners in the Church. Jesus said He would be the one to separate the sheep from the goats, and the wheat from the tares. That doesn’t mean that the gates of Hell have prevailed against the Church Jesus founded.

I did convert to Catholicism, but I later on had some major issues, particularly on the ordination of women and the infallibility of the Church’s teaching authority (in terms of ordinary and extraordinary magesterium) which I couldn’t accept on good conscience.

I think the CC is a beautiful church in so many ways, with an enormous heritage of wisdom and tradition and beauty in many forms, and I also admire the firmness with which it defends and guards them. I don’t regret joining the church and in a way finding out what had been missing in the past, a strong sense of the sacramental in things, but I can’t see myself as being able to rejoin them either.

Hi,
No you were not wrong about me , I just needed a little time to do some reading.👍 I dont know everything there is to know about the bible. Im sure you dont either. Just because I believe in using the bible alone for faith and morals certainly doesnt mean I know it all.

Just like Im sure you dont know all the church writings of the ECF’s or could cite the catechism from memory. I wouldnt expect you too either.

I am not one of those people that can give an immediate answer. I need to research–especially because I was not completely familiar with this bit of scripture.
So , I read and called my minister;) and prayed about it and looked into history and I have an answer.:extrahappy:
DRUMROLL PLEASE!!!
Paul was writing to the church of Corinth because they were having many problems-immorality etc. Paul needed to set them straight. In Corinth women who did not wear veils on their heads were prostitutes. So , because Paul was telling the christians there they had to stand out and stand up and be different to show the Corinthians the christian way, Paul told them how to worship publicly.

A christian woman wearing a veil on their head was a sign of respect toward their husband. In the passages around this verse, Paul is talking about christian order. Christ is head of every man, man is head of every woman and God is the head of Christ.

In the culture it was considered shameful for a woman not to be wearing a veil because one would mistake her for a prostitute.

So in the end, this particular passage was only written to the Corinth church because they were the only church that were having problems with prostitutes. So the rule was given to them for a reason. We do not have the same issue today so we are not bound to this rule. However, if a woman wants to wear a veil(which there is a woman who does in our church)that is perfectly acceptable just as not wearing one is fine as well.

I hope this helps:thumbsup: If not then I encourage you to seek the Lord for an answer because He has all the answers, or call your priest or research as I did.😃

P.S. I also have the answer to Freedom in Christ whichI will post next:thumbsup:

Thank you:blush: Im sure you do have a heart it is just sometimes difficult to communicate over the internet. I include everyone in that statement. Tone is too hard to tell.😦

Hi HELLISREAL,

Here is your answer about Freedom in Christ:thumbsup:

In the fifth chapter of Galatians Paul wrote:

“It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again
to a yoke of slavery.” (Gal. 5:1)

The “yoke of slavery” Paul is referring to here is the burden of law keeping (the principle of obedience to external commandments which regulate one’s salvation and relationship with God). Paul is writing to Gentile believers who entered into a, once for all, saved relationship with God, as sons, through faith in Christ Jesus (Gal. 4:4-6). As a child of God’s household he is free. He has been delivered from every aspect of law - as a rule of life, as an obligation to make himself acceptable to God (he has been fully accepted and made righteous in the Beloved).

In Gal. 5:1 Paul is warning the believer against the spoiling of this freedom and that he must contend by standing firm. The actual experience of contending for the preservation of our freedom in Christ is foreign to the greater mass of Christianity (Catholic and Protestant). Pressing in on every side are the false teachings of law-ridden churches with the ever-present tendency to depend on self, rather than by faith, through the Spirit, resting in the prefect work of Christ on our behalf.

A true believer, now in Christ, stands in GRACE (unmerited, divine favor) and exalts in the hope of the glory of God (Rom. 5: 1:2), whereas the legalist is ever bogged down in insecurity - he cannot know when he has done enough to satisfy the standard of divine righteousness. He is ever “subject to a yoke of slavery” (self-imposed as well as religious) being a total stranger to the freedom in which Christ has set the believer free.

The Catholic (and other legalists) often respond in horror with, “So, in other words, you can sin all you want?” Not at all. Jesus said that everyone who commits sins (habitually) is a slave of sin (Jn. 8:34). So obviously the freedom into which the true believer has been called in Christ is not a life enslaved to sin. As Paul says in Gal. 5:13:

“For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for
the flesh, but through love serve one another.”

So ,a true, born again believer is called into a grace-filled, personal relationship with God, unfettered of external rules and regulations to govern it. He is called as a “son,” not a slave, and as a son His heavenly Father lovingly disciplines him - if and when needed (Heb. 12:7-13). His relationship with God is warm and personal, not filtered through cold, impersonal, commandments.

Well, I hope this helps. 😃
