Non Catholics - what are the doubts you have about your religion

You also know deep down that it is a two-way street and that God truly is listening, do we listen when we should? Sometimes His “yes or no” has to be with a stick of lumber for us to get it.

That’s the thing. I’m the the worlds perfect child to the Father.

I’ve sinned a lot in my lifetime, and though I say I love Him, I don’t act upon it when it really comes down to it.

So… sometimes I feel he doesn’t listen to me because of the things I’ve done. Know what I mean?

I find this to be an interesting question, and I don’t think it’s rude.

I guess my “label” is technically Roman Catholic since that’s how I was born and raised, and I still do believe in God. I guess I still believe in Jesus and the Eucharist. But I doubt everything else… I can’t morally agree with most of the church’s rules anymore. And mainly, I can’t stand the hypocricy and attitude of a lot of Catholics these days. So many people are so quick to judge and tear others down instead of love, support, and bolster each other up. I’ve seen this attitude a lot in other areas of the forums here, I’ve seen it in churches, I’ve seen it in grocery stores. People have to be careful with claiming to be part of a large group, because their actions will make an impression in people’s minds of that group… especially when that group claims that you can judge a tree by its fruit. Granted, there’s a lot of very good, loving, peaceful Catholics too. But the negative ones have ruined it all for me. So I guess my “label” is more “questioning” than it is “Catholic.” I don’t know what I believe anymore.

As my name suggests I too had/have my doubts and some perverse part of me tries hard to find fault with the Church. It would make life a lot easier form me to not be catholic - i have friends who are gay and the teachings on this subject alone break my heart. I also have not been impressed with many of the priests that i have met and find them less than inspirational.

However, all the reading and learning i have been doing about Catholicism spurred by a desire to prove to myslef that it is a false religion have only had the opposite effect and seem to be drawing me closer. Yes there are horrible people in the church but the actual teachings are really hard to argue with and i am more convinced than ever that this is God’s church and it is a sin on my soul not to fully commit to the faith.

I have no doubts that God is real, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

My doubts are centered on how to worship him and if there is one true Church or if there is all kinds of churches and none of them have it exactly right. That all that matters is a sincere heart and that we are trying.
I have been reading this forum off and on since 2005. I have read a book by Pope John Paul. I read the bible, though not enough since I have doubts now that the Bible alone is sufficient, and that I am interpreting it correctly.

I do have doubts about the Catholic church, of which I am not a member. But then as I said, I doubt all churches.

we all have doubts lets fact it - nothing is perfect and what i want to know is what do you doubt about your religion or theology?

I really don’t have any doubts. I have a living relationship with my Lord Jesus Christ and I do have the assurance that I will one day see Him in all of His glory in heaven. Till then I continue my walk in faith getting to know Him better every day.

I, like many Pagans, am completely open to the concept that I may be wrong about my beliefs. I don’t assume that I am correct and everyone else is wrong - I try not to judge like that. I believe that everyone has the right to wehatever belief is most meaningful to them.
