Non-Catholics, what brought you to CAF?

Will all of us ever be in the same church together? I don’t see it happening this century. But all of us Christians have gotta refrain from peeing in each other’s soup.
That’s a rather… interesting way of putting it. But thanks for sharing your opinion.

I was just curious why you guys decided to come here and stick around.
I came here when I was a Byzantine Catholic.

I am still Catholic, but not according to the ground rules laid out by the CAF ownership here, so on this site I am considered a Non-Catholic.

I stick around because I have not been banned, and I am not dead yet.

I just came here today as someone looking at Catholicism as a serious possibility for hte direction of my faith. Even if I don’t end up that way, it’s still good to learn all that I can.

Great! God bless you in your search!

Though I am now Catholic, I came here to learn more about the faith, to learn more about other’s faiths, to see how people of different faiths interact, and to put in my two cents (though recently people might be asking for change when I put in my two cents).

I am happy to be Catholic and happy to be part of this online community (which, God willing, helps us unite and not divide futher).

I stay because we can all learn from each other and hopefully help each other grow in Christ!

Actually the family thing was the closest I found to a valid reason to stick around – but I initially came here because I was discussing Marian theology on a protestant web forum & wanted to explore the Catholic view further … so I found this site & been here since.

Perhaps I’m a glutton for punishment (my inner Catholic)😃

I had listened to “Catholic Answers Live” for about three years but never visited the web site…when I discovered these forums, I wanted to understand Catholicism better. I had an aunt who converted decades ago and had her children baptized. I remember when I was a young boy, going with my cousin to small private shrine in Sunnyvale California. It was a very small building…almost a shed really, with a couple small benches and a table with a statue of a woman on it. The interior was dark with vines painted on the walls and an arch above the statue. He knelt in front of it and lit a candle, crossed himself and said some things I didn’t understand as a young boy of 8 or 9…but it was a vivid memory.

My mom received her sister’s crucifix at her funeral. My two cousins grew up to be…less than wholesome individuals and were escorted to the funeral in chains and cuffs. They both went up to the casket, knelt, crossed themselves and prayed for their mother.

My aunt was not the best “Catholic” representative…so I had a lot of negative ideas…while I still am a lonnnnnngggggg wayyyyyy from even considering Catholicism as a religious tradition I could embrace, I do have a better understanding of where my aunt and cousins were coming from and many of my own misconceptions have been cleared up.

I came here because I was looking for answers… I am still not entirely sure why it was important to me to find out the Catholic view on some things, but it was, and still is (although I am a new member, I anticipate staying around for a while at least).
