Non-Catholics: When you hear Catholics equated to Satan, does it bother you?

I was listening again to a talk by John MacArthur (who I understand is fairly well-respected in Protestant circles). In the 7:00 minute mark of his sermon in this file, he states the following:*In the long war on the truth, the most formidable, relentless, and deceptive enemy has been Roman Catholicism. It is an apostate, corrupt, heretical, false Christianity. It is a front for the kingdom of Satan.*Protestants, non-Catholics, does this sort of comment bother you? In what way??
 
It bothers me because I personally know a lot of good people that are catholics.
 
It doesn’t bother me as a catholic myself, there is always people out there will question any faith, some, because they don’t understand it, others because they are afraid of it,if your faith is strong you can learn not to take these things personally.🙂
 
It bothers me because I do not feel it is justified to attack fellow Christians simply because we do not agree with them. On a similar note though I object to Catholics who call Protestant’s Satan’s spawn or some such similar name.

In a world where Christianity is so often under attack and where so many people have not heard the Gospel, I think it is wrong for Christians to snipe at each other. Our efforts would be bettered utilized in carrying the message to those who don’t believe.

Yes, absolutely, and likewise when Catholics equate Protestantism with Satan.

I totally agree this is the time when all of us Christians need to unite and stand strong together. This is the only way we will beat satan, he hates unity.

any catholic who made such a statement would be in grave error, see they can say all they want but in the end their not the pope.
 
When I hear anyone equated with “satan” it bothers me. When I hear those who profess to have “the fulness of truth” speak about their “separated brethren” in a disparaging way it bothers me. When I hear the “separated brethren” speak disparaging remarks about the Church of Rome…it bothers me…when I hear “Christians” speak in words and in condemning terminology toward any who would disagree with them and in such “unchristlike” terms…the Light Within burns dimly in many.

Amen! We need to work together not against each other.
 
I think it would annoy anyone who doesn’t follow Satan to persistently be told they do despite their statements to the contrary. I doubt Catholics like it any better than any other group.

Yes it bothers me a lot. I am protestant and my wife is Catholic and because of what she had to deal with as a kid from Southern Baptists, church going is an issue between us and it took me a long time to convince that I don’t think that way. So to any and all protestants who make such statements please pick your words carefully.

It’s a distorted view of Catholicism, which in my humble opinion can lead many Non-Catholic Christians into ideas that CC is indeed from the Evil One. I do acknowledge that most Protestants would deny this man’s claim.

Keep in mind Catholics cannot say the same thing about Non-Catholic Christians. They are consider as separated brothers and sisters in Christ.
 
I hate being exposed to paranoia, yet it makes me curious and I always want to understand where it comes from.
Where does that type of paranoia come from? A few people with personal axes to grind? Then why does it spread? It’s scary to think all around us are people making the strangest ideas out of…what?:confused:
 
No. as a catholic I am used to seeing my faith attacked on a daily basis wether it be by baptists, (I speak from personal experience on this one) when I was young my sister married a man from the baptist faith and when the families would get together, the only thing I heard from the baptist side of this family was how our religion was all wrong, and they were always trying to give my mother religious pamphlets & trying to get us to go to their church. I now work with a seventh day adventist who is always trying to tell me that my religion is all wrong. look around catholisizm is always under attack. I am strong in my faith, and if you look for the negative you will find it everywhere, but if you look for GOD you will also find him. people see and hear what they want to see and hear. I would fight to the death for GOD, but I don’t like getting in petty religious arguments over GOD if you know what I mean. I am not the judge & jury of other people, I leave that up to god. I would suggest if you want the catholic side of it on radio though check out relevant radio. you can find them at relevantradio.com and in particular I would suggest father john corapi. He preaches and explains the catholic faith like no one I have ever heard. may GOD bless you and all of us.

Does it bother you when protestants are told that they follow him?

It should bother all of us whenever our brothers or sisters are attacked in this manner.
