Protestants believers say they are right and Catholics are wrong in their theology. Catholics say they are right and protestants are wrong in their theology.

Protestants do you even care who is wrong or who is right? or do you think we should just stop fussing at each other and just continue to preach our way to Heaven no matter what one chooses to believe is True?

may God all!

"Blessed is the kingdom of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and to the ages of ages."

I don’t think it’s a simple matter of someone being right or wrong. We all believe and accept Jesus as our savior, we believe in the tri-une GOD etc. etc.

I think many doctrines are just simply misunderstood on both sides. Rather than trying to prove someone is wrong, we should try first to seek to understand, and then try to be understood. I think we should always seek unity and strive to be one church. Many Roman Catholics don’t even agree with all of their own theology. I can introduce you to several Priests that raise questions similar to many Protestants.

In viewing a program right before the visit of Benedict to the US one of the high ranking Vatican officials was getting questioned about Mary. His response was “the church has been teaching this for a long time”. When asked his personal opinion he commented that he didn’t think we had enough evidence to support it either way. He pointed right to Luke’s Gospel and said that overall the Gospel’s just don’t give us enough information. I’ve heard this many times from Priests who respond with the “the church has taught this for some time” when referencing some doctrine that is disputed whether it be Mary, the Pope etc. etc.

Bottom line is we are still one church, the body of Christ.

that is ok Nfan, as you know many did not believe on the teaches of Jesus either. the reason being because they decided that His teachings were not clear in the SS either. so, it is no surprise to me that many would reject the teachings of His Church also.

"Lord, our God, whose power is beyond compare, and glory is beyond understanding; whose mercy is boundless, and love for us is ineffable; look upon us and upon this holy house in Your compassion. Grant to us and to those who pray with us Your abundant mercy." St John Chrysostomos

I think what many Protestants would say to this is that they believe in the teachings of Jesus but not all the teachings of Rome. Rome would say that Protestants in rejecting their teachings are in fact rejecting the teachings of Jesus. So again we’re right back divisiveness. Not sure what the solution is really.

The is very simple. obedience to Jesus. when He said I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. we as Catholics actually believe Him.
although ML tried to destroy the Church, he did not succeeded.

the Church was built by 13 men chosen by God. One sinfull man will not be able to destroy it. many have tried, imperors, kings, believe me they all tried. where are they now? the Church still here. but they came and are gone.

One thing i find so amazing is how Jesus came when the romans ruled over Israel. and years later do you know what happened? Jesus now rules over the romans through His Church and the entire world. isnt it that amazing?

It is my humble opinion that both are right and both are wrong, their problem is they just have a big misunderstanding of each other. But then, I may be wrong. I am Pentecostal. I have read the CCC, the Dogmas, and Karl Keating’s apologetics, as well as other Catholic sources on Catholic beliefs. I find myself in agreement with about 80-90% of what I’ve read without compromising what I’ve been taught as a Pentecostal. That’s about the same percentage of agreement I have with what I hear Pentecostals teach, as well as the Baptists and others. It is said that the Pentecostals are the furtherest Protestant group there is from Catholicism. If that is true, then the other groups must be in greater percentage of agreement with the Catholic Church than I am And that would be saying a whole lot. So I think it is a matter of people not understanding each other more than a matter of who’s right and who’s wrong.

I think a better question would be: “If the Catholic Church is wrong, then which interpration of the 30000 different churches is right”?

Peace!

no. the dissagreements are about authority, faith and believe.

ML didn’t try to destroy anything. He wanted to affect change within the church. Isn’t it amazing that Vat 2 implemented almost everything ML suggested. Also you can’t just generically associate all protestants with ML.

No the church was built by Jesus. The Apostles and all Christians carry on the great commission which is to make disciples baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Spirit.

Agree 100% 👍

I don’t think the CC is wrong. I think they have defined some doctrine that they shouldn’t have. But then again the same could be said for many non-cc denominations.

hello, I dont know what you mean. I thought Orthodox meant “right belief” . Does it mean something else to Catholics?
catholic=universal
Catholic=universal church in union with the pope
orthodox=right belief
Orthodox=churches in union with one of the patriarchs

The Catholic and the Orthodox churches are both descended from the apostles. They separated many centuries ago over some points of doctrine and a disagreement about the authority of the pope.

Thank you. And, this is based on their disagreement over Peter’s successor?

they split because after 700 years of saying the creed the same way the Bishop of Rome added to the Creed and said all the other Bishops had to say it that way too… and the Bishops in the east said no.

Okay. That is something very interesting.

How many Creeds are there?

There are 3 major creeds, called the Ecumenical Creeds: The Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed.

The Nicene Creed, the division is called the
Great Schism if you want to google it. the addtion was the “Filioque”, that wasn’t the only reason the split happen, a big part of it was the east spoke greek and the west spoke latin. there is actually some talk of reunification but I don’t think that will happen before the Pope of Rome gives up his claim to be over the other Bishops. they have both taken back there excomunications. interesting stuff…
