I was watching EWTN over the weekend and Deacon Bill stated that when non-Christians who try to lead a good life (who haven’t been exposed to the gospel of Jesus) die, they can experience great hapiness, but they will not experience the beatific vision.
I’m paraphrasing, but I believe that this is the essence of what he stated. I have heard this before, but I can’t find any reference to it in the catechism or other Catholic reference materials. Does anyone know where this theory comes from and if it is the teaching of the Catholic Church?
